Well, someone suggested me to keep the FIR copy as a proof of cancellation of my previous license, since it has not expired yet. So its a mandatory thing!

I've two licenses as well. One from TN & KL. Fortunately, I've not lost both of them. When I applied latter in KL, I was adviced to cancel the one that I'd with TN saying it was offense to have two valid licenses.

If a license is lost, it is mandatory to file a FIR as it is perfectly possible to duplicate the license using the same license number to commit a crime which naturally will fall into the registered owner's name.

So I would be applying a fresh one in Bangalore. I don't see any other solution.
        Sudeep,

Probably we live in India and tracking back a Driving License of a person in Bangalore with Indore is extremely difficult.
Add to that RTO needs to match address, names et all.

More so no one will be interested, moreover different state laws, RTO rules & lot of other paraphernalias are involved for Police or Motor Vehicles Department to handle this.

Apply for a new one in BANGY. Simple & Easy !!!

Even I am also applying one with different RTO in Kolkata itself.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Aargee, why did you apply for a second license when the first one was not lost?

Yeah, I know they won't be tracking all those things.
But still, to be on a safer side, it's better to have an FIR registered and then apply for a fresh one.

            Duplicate copy of Driving licence

            Hai All

They say that it is very difficult to make a women understand the seriousness of some matters. I came to know that my wife was carrying the original DL in her purse just a week back . I told her to take a copy of the DL( I should have done it) and carry it instead of carrying the original. Well as usual it fell on deaf ears. Now my wife has lost her purse along with the original DL.

Now my confusion is as follows.
            1. The old DL my wife holds is in her old name(Before marriage). I contacted the Driving school for a duplicate and they said that I have to first get the details of her driving licence(Because no photocopy is available) from the RTO. Then with the details I have to file an FIR in the police station. Then with the FIR copy I have to apply for a duplicate DL. The whole thing will cost me near to Rs. 3000.
            2. The driving school people are suggesting me to take a new DL in the new name and forget about the old DL. The cost is Rs. 1100.

Now if I opt for sl.1 will there be any future implications like misuse of the old DL.

            Please help me.

            Cheers

            Mathews

They are just asking you for extra money because you are being lazy in not visiting the RTO yourself. You need to go to the RTO and get the details extracted of your old Licence, will not be a big problem as you long as you know the name of the person, father's name and address! Once you have the details, file an FIR at the PS, take the FIR and go to the RTO, and get the duplicate issued. They will take your bio-metrics and photo and send you your licence within a week on the address that is given in your details saved with them.

Even if you take a new licence, you still need to file an FIR, to ensure that no one can misuse it, and file the FIR ASAP.

Getting a duplicate will not cost more than 200-300 legal rupees! Don't know what the scene in Kerala on the corruption front!

I had got it done in Uttar Pradesh (hot bed for corruption) in around 4-5 hundred.

today I'm going through all the 'lost my papers' type of threads that i can find to help people out of this common misery..
                1st thing- F I R..
Now, on to the main thing..there's a service of document management that has recently started in India..i've started using it and am suggesting it to everyone..you submit your important documents (not just your vehicle papers
) with the company and they'll digitize them and you can then view and send digital copies of those through the internet using a unique password that you'd be provided with. Also, you can get your papers back if you want..they deliver them to your place on your request.
The name of the company is kleeto..and they are the only ones providing this service. Check them out. And i'd suggest anybody reading this thread to try it.
And good luck Sudeep..and happy journey..you'd probably be having another trip to Tamil Nadu now..
Theres also a provision from HDFC bank called ONEASSIST they cover all your cards from any bank and you pan card and DL too...if you lose any of them they replace it for free...mean to say your pan and DL also...
