something i tried out in my recent 800kms ride is try and have a good leg guard something on which you can rest your legs on empty stretches and sit like a sofa.... helps a lot to relieve the stress of the back and the wrists....

apart from that instead of cold drink at the dhabas go for tea or coffee keeps you refreshed and awake at the same tim..... avoid drinking cold drinks as they tend to increase your thirst....

for food eat properly whatever you eat but just dont over eat....

which bike do you ride bro, coz i know it helps to stretch your legs the way you mentioned, but it is risky at the same time.

there are a few things i do, when i get too tired to ride, but does not have time to stop--stretching legs by hanging in air, and putting my feet on crash/leg guard. but these are not advisable ways to relax.

Riding fatigue is caused mainly due to the vibrations absorbed by our lower back. Our lower bones of spinal cord are directly connected to the centre of hips and in turn to the saddle. So naturally, all the seat vibrations are absorbed by spinal cord from the bottom and the cord vibrates as well. This causes a riding fatigue especially if you are riding on straight hiway patch at high speeds for longer duration. Use of lumbar support belt keeps your spinal cord straight and minimizes spinal cord vibrations thus you can roll on and on and on....... try it out.
        Thanks a lot Meghnad,

Can you please post a picture of the lumbar support belt, that you are suggesting. Will help people like me, who are new it.

          +1 to that

I too did the same, on my recent trip. Definately helps a lot, and the best part is that I could never recall what exactly I was speaking to myself

to cut wind noise a good quality helmet is the only way. plugging your ear is only a second option.

wear suitable gear ventilated but body fitting. wearing good cotton goes a long way in keeping your body cool. especially your inner wear.

keep your body well hydrated. piss off should be the thumb rule.

dont fight sleep. take a mini break like near a toll / check post etc. a 5 minute nap works wonders for your tired mind.

enjoy the ride. think good things be happy.forgive and forget and give way to others. you will reach your destination in a better frame of mind.

i have a bad back and i always wear a back support belt. for me it is a sort of necessity for long rides and not an option.

I ride an FZ..... and the above mentioned way is advisable only if you have a stretch of 2-3 km and a 4 lane highway in the middle of nowhere.... DEFINITELY NOT ADVISABLE on 2 lane highways and close to inhabitations....

True this.. Depends on the road condition & traffic be on sparse

On my last ride to Kerala I drove with legs on Crash guard for several km's on stretch, of course the roads were 4 lanes with medians & sparse traffic around with ample time to get back & brake safely if needed

If you are touring in south india, one of the best methods of constant rehydration is tender coconuts. They are available on most highways, they are fresh, natural, unadultrated & very re-juvenating.

On the subject of ear plugs, standard ones or even with custom silicon earplugs (made from any simple hearing aid shop), you can mildly hear most of the noises around you, but it greatly cuts the wind noise and reduces fatigue.

Guys during a long ride I feel like not eating anything. Recently when I was on a ride for almost 14 hours I didn't feel like eating breakfast or lunch or dinner. So had to push some biscuits and a lot of water till lunch. 1 roti and curry for lunch lots of water till dinner and one packet maggi for dinner. I never felt tired or anything for the entire time. I could not sleep properly the previous night too. Any ideas how to manage that? Or is it just a matter of getting used to?
