  • SBK depreciation

    Hi.. first post here...

I am thinking of buying a fully-legal-direct-from-the-showrooom kind of SBK sometime in the future (a couple of years at least - earlier if the boss agrees ). Was wondering what is the typical depreciation on these bikes over the years (am looking at a Hayabusa). Just want to get an idea of what is the value at risk if I am not able to put in the KMs required to justify owning one.

Searched through the forum but couldnt find anything on this subject. Thanks in advance.

Yes this i can say ... brakes on CBR 1000RR assisted by the amazing C-ABS is the best of the lot. I am glad that honda brought this bike with C-ABS as standard feature on all Fireblades.
Its a boon for indian road conditions specially kolkata, where life on a two wheeler is uncertain

            • i have a video of comparo of r1 2009(crossplane crankshaft) and cbr1000rr

the MCN guys in it say r1 is better

now, all of them have so contradicting results so we cant trust them

we can obviously take a reference but not decide to buy a bike just on their remarks

u should rather take a test ride of the bikes and compare urself cause u r the one who is going to ride the bike and not them

              • Im glad this topic came up. dont read into the hype. I am on a few kawasaki forums and a few of them in the us bought a new r1 and said it handled like a pig, was too wide and lacked guts.

heres one of those links Had 09 R1 for 1 Day and that was enough - Kawasaki ZX-10R.net

                  • MCN is probably the only website that rated the 09 R1 above all other bikes.
And lots of people also believe MCN has like a tie up with Yamaha and so they just favor Yams.
In any case, the performance gap is way to close for casual riders like us to even notice it. Boils down to personal choice.
And forget test rides. No dealership allows it. (at least in the US)
Unless its a manufacturer event, you can forget abt test rides. If a friend lets you test it, then well and good.

For the record, i am a big Yamaha fan. And Yamaha's dominate the race tracks world over anyway.
So buy what sets your pulse racing...could be a Bajaj BYK for someone could be the R1 for someone else.

                      OFF-TOPIC:-

                      ^is it ?

first i thought MCN backs only honda..later they proved it wrong by placing the ABS equipped 600 cc CBR last during the 600 cc group test.

when i just thought they support yamaha...they proved it wrong by calling 2008 zx10r better than 2008 R1 in track...

they neva talk about gsxr's in their group test...but go to the MCN website..they call it a VFM bike !

                      they are straight forward mate

Whaa ! they dont give test rides in US ??? Then where on earth do they ? We are lucky that in India, they at least let you touch it and even start it to let you hear the engine sound...

I knew you are a big Yamaha fan... "R is for respect"
It does boils down to your choice. But what choice do we have in India in super sports litre capacity.. ? R1, Fireblade, Ducati.....

i dont agree with u, we have almost all the japs(read yamaha, suzuki and honda) and ducati has all its lineup in india

note:i m only talkin about litre bikes here

Wait a sec ... I think what fireblah meant here was that we have limited choice even in japs ... we only have the R1 , Blade and the Busa officially launched here in India ... what about the rest of them R6 , CBR600 , Gixxer and few more ??? ... I think this is what he meant , apologies If I'm wrong .
