Please tell me the details and source!! I will tell you something as to why this is very very important to me.[pm]Originally posted by Ducati695 View Post1098 is high 20's.......like 26 or 27. I believe they will also bring in 1198
The Desmodici is 50
The smallest monster (696) is 10.69
BTW: From what I read in some business mag... Ducati is building a factory near Pune, over the next 3-4 years. They will start making parts and also assembling CDK's there...... Let's see how the Japs react to that move.
The showroom in Mumbai was set to open Oct-Nov, Don't know if the other one in Delhi has opened?

The 1098 R was being quoted at 48 odd lacs last year.Originally posted by Ducati695 View Post1098 is high 20's.......like 26 or 27. I believe they will also bring in 1198

I have been periodically importing add on parts for my MT since last year. No problem whatsoever. As long as you are willing to pay the customs duties and other levies the system works very smoothly. I did not even have to get off my chair, delivered straight here.Originally posted by Ducati695 View PostI had a friend who got parts for his "officially purchased in India bike", The parts were minor... but the poor guy had to show everything from the showroom invoice to RTO registration to get the parts through. Of course he had refused to pay them a single rupee in bribe, hence the work to rule I assume.
As long as one is willing to work within the system and not try to defy and break the laws (how ever unfair they are); the system works fairly.
Yes the import laws for new bikes are convoluted but the impunity and scale of the knock down import scenario made one wonder how long will all this last.
That's the main reason I went for an official Indian billing bike after almost striking up a deal to import the Speed Triple.sigpic StreetFighter

Are you asking about legal bikes or otherwise? Or in general?Originally posted by RanjithMN View Posthey guys i have a Q to all the Super Bikers in India, sry if i missed it out somewhere.

Good question.Originally posted by Prakrit Takkar View Postjust a random thought passing my mind, what if you lose the keys to your SBK and i'm talking abt non official bikes?
I have seen some bikes being turned on with locally made keys, e.g Hero Honda etc embossed on the head of the key. So, go figure!"Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Yeah the 954RRs come with what's called a H.I.S.S or the Honda Immobiliser Security System.. Not sure if the 929s before them had it. So if you lose the key for a 954 which has it, then you need to buy a key from Honda which has a chip embedded in it, blank and ready to program itself to the system.
This programming is a simple 2 min job (at least on the R1). Not sure about the 954, but I'm sure it's similarly quick.Last edited by rossiter; 10-15-2009, 12:09 AM. Reason: Fixed a boo-boo. Memory fades fast nowadays :D"Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Have a look at this PDF. It is authored by Ashish Chordia (I think he is CEO of Precision Motors)Originally posted by Ducati695 View Post1098 is high 20's.......like 26 or 27. I believe they will also bring in 1198

And guys, 1098 has 2 models. The 1098S, and the special components equipped & costlier 1098R...
The prime reason for 1098R's production is homologation of the bike, for racing in SBk Championship. It's more powerful, by almost 20 PS. It's a 1200cc motor.
And secondly, about CKD Market news, I would love to know the source of information, just like nitrosatya. Because, the only CKD import I can remind myself is Ninja 250, and no other japs' bike.Last edited by Samarth 619; 10-19-2009, 02:01 AM. Reason: made correction to typed text. Thanks suren.---

Sorry man.. you'll have to get in touch with some of the SBK mechanics for this. I'm sure they'll have a solution. Either way, if there's an HISS installed, even they will have to do the same programming thing. There is no workaround for this AFAIK.Originally posted by Prakrit Takkar View Postare there any aftermarket solutions available coz i don't thing HMSI would be helping with the models officially not available"Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Do your google once again and know the real difference ! S and R are worlds apart ! Dont post wrong info ! And 1098r was homologated for 2008 ! Now they race with the 1198 !Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostThe prime reason for 1098R's production is homologation of the bike, for racing in SBk Championship. The 1098 R in fact has a bored out 1198 engine. It is in a higher state of tune than your normal 1198 current engine as well so produces more power along with getting after market traction control, set of race pipes, etc etc
As for losing the keys. Most bikes these days come with a master key . if you lose that key then you need to order another ECU or you cant programme normal blank keys.
