I use 3 different polishes for the bike. i use 3M or Turtle Wax Color Magic and the latest one is a "Wet Look" polish [dont remember the name]. I polish my bike every Sunday. Everything from the plastics to the tyres. And once a month I use this polish called "Tefcoat", which has to be applied after polishing the bike. Gives a better shine. The whole process of washing body[with shampoo] + washing [tyres and chrome parts with soap] + polishing takes around 3-4 hours.

"And I did one more amazing thing. Use Black Cherry Blossom Liquid Wax polish for the tyre sidewalls and black plastic panels such as the rear mudguard and the rear of the mirrors. Saves the plastic from fading and looking ugly.

I dont think you shud use this glifford. The black polish remains even after u wipe it and will spoil ur clothes. It will spoil the plastics. Better use a good dashboard spray.

I would advise everybody "Dont go in for Teflon Coating or machine polishing unless your bike /car has lots of minor scratches. If your bike/car is scratcheless, get your own polishes and polish the bike on your own. Its very easy. Just follow the instructions given on the polish bottle. It gives you more satisfaction than even a professional stuff.

Step-by-step instructions wud be a god-send

- First of all give the bike a good wash with a good car shampoo. Wash the entire body [including mudguards, lower engine etc] and remove all the dirt and grim from it. Wash the tyres and the chrome/stainless parts with any soap [tide, ariel etc]. Wash your bike often. When the bike is clean, all the moisture dries up quickly, but when it's dirty, the moisture accumulates in dirty areas causing corrosion

- Spray water and rinse of all the soap from the bike and wipe the bike dry with a dry[a bit moist] cloth.

- Normally with Formula One polish you get an applicator pad. Its a soft sponge. Use that to apply polish over the painted parts [chasis also if u wish to]. Wait for 10 mins and then wipe off the polish with a clean dry cloth. [ Dont sit idle in those 10 mins. Use that time to polish the tyres, plastic parts etc.]

- Minor scratches can also be removed by using a good polishing compound. So you dont need to machine polish or teflon coat ur bike.

Just remember this. Theres no "polish" coating that can last for 6 months or one year. Not even Teflon. The same goes for normal polishing. If u want ur paint to shine and last forever regularly polish your bike.

Well V-12 I stay alone far (1200 KM) away from my family. So I am alone with my bike. Buying expensive Tyre foam and dashboard polish doesnot make economic sense for me as I have just my Pulsar to polish.

If I was at home it would have been an altogether different matter as then I could have used it on our car and the scooters.

And yes being wax based It should not harm any plastic. I also used it in places where it doesnot come in direct contact with the clothes. Namely:

1. The Rear Black part of the mudguard
2. The back of the mirrors.

That's it.. nowhere else besides the tyre sidewalls. It is pretty inert and wax based. And unless applied very thick it actually spreads well and doesnot come off once dry. It can also be buffed like normal wax polish. I will NOT use it anywhere else!

Hey glifford, theres no need to buy tyre foam AND dashboard polish. Just buy a good dashboard [can be used on rubber also] polish [120-150 bucks] and u can use in on the tyres also.

waxpol (cream paste), formula 1, turtle wax (hard wax). which is good?

I never tried waxpol, but have used 3M, Formula1, turtle, meguiars and Collinite. In my experience hard wax has the best durability when compared to paste wax. 3M paste wax is the worst of all, costs about 160rs. Regarding Formula1 and turtle, the most resellers here have duplicate ones, so got them shipped from amazon costs about 300rs per 150gms. They offer a very decent shine but doesn't last long. Next the Meguiars tech wax, which is the second to best that I have used, it offers a very good shine, works brilliant on lighter paint shades too and offers a very warm shine on darker shades. Still the durability was not as good as the collinite. Tried the collinite 915 marquee de elegance it offers the best shine on lighter paint shades while the collinite 476s performed brilliant on darker shades. The 476s simple lasts long than 915 or any other wax for that matter, which is like I never noticed any degradation to the coat even after detergent washes in several months. So dumped the 915 and I am using the 476s costs about 900rs per 240gms tin and you will never need another tin for the next 5-6yrs, if you are going to use it on your bike alone. Also don't forget to order the applicator pad and micro fiber cloth. In simple words after you use the collinite the painted surface will become like a non stick pan repelling water/dirt/almost anything. So just wipe it with a soft cloth and you are done with cleaning. Find the collinite treated paint surface below.
