    Within city limits

I let splendours overtake me if the roads are somewhat congested. I dont bother to get into a "race" with them on my P220. I guess that explains a lot

Yes iv got into a few races when im in a bad mood and paid a price just a couple of weeks back when my foot hit a fallen police barricade trying to avoid a pothole in the middle of a "race" Been under house arrest for all this time.

    On the highways

I think of only one thing, "Im cruising and enjoying my ride. Get lost."

I head advise of a very experienced rider in my native place, who uses his motorcycle for almost everything, and has more than 1-1.5 lakhs riding experience. He said "if you want to live, always say to the opposite person on road 'tu mothya bapacha' means your father is great, and move on." Though at first I thought it was a loser's advice etc, later I realized this is the only way I can keep peace in mind. Road rash, people trying to cut me off, overtaking in a way so that the biker will have no road etc, I can keep my cool in all these conditions.

I too have always felt like smoking every poser there is,but one day(one of those days when you are brooding) it dawned on me that what would be I proving to anyone(or myself) if I smoke a poser on a Comet or whatever.....absolutely nothing.I am under a helmet, nobody knows me and nobody gives a damn. What have I to prove? Let the poser think whatever he wants. It's not like girls are cheering me up in this race so my reputation is at stake. This is what I am saying:there is nothing to be gained from this smoking and dragging on public roads.
As satyen said, slow down to a crawl when you see anyone get aggressive. It's the best way.You have to learn to be small to be great.

P.S.: Smoking posers on Highway and empty roads is fine.
P.P.S.: Drags in which your reputation is at stake are also fine(as long as you set the location as an empty road).
guys i dont take risk on busy roads .. i only do it on empty roads ..
i dont risk anyones life there ,

            Nice thread!
Guys, let us take a vow, here on xBHP, to not get involved in street drags, street racing and road rage any more. I, for one, whole heartedly vow not to do the above mentioned things. Ignore the posers; getting into a race only quickens your heartbeat, stresses you and spoils the ride!! Saw a poser on the road today? Login to xBHP, tell us about it and let us all have a laugh.

            Ride safe fellas!!

oh yes today "dragged" with a ZMA fella , i dragged till 30kmph and then he went zip zap zoom (like some gas molecule) later i saw him at a chai thela and he was looking at me as if he defeated me in a world championship for street bikes

there isnt a day i take my bike on the roads and get challenged by ppl for a drag..i say no..many drag not for the sake of the race or biking but just to prove that their 50000 bike can smoke and out drag a bike that cost a lakh of rupees..not criticizing them..whatever gets them high..but what happens is like wild animals chasing meat they get wild and go above and beyond the laws of road etiquette and safety in order to win..that is unacceptable..i dont care if he/she falls under a bus and dies that is their problem..but when they fall down and try to take u along..that is dumb. .moreover i have seen more than my share of people my age and younger come to the casualty with life threatening and often permanent injuries and the saddest part is that it is not that they suffer..these dumb asses are unconscious on on the operating table..i have to see their parents, wives, girlfriends who fall at my feet, even though i was just an intern and have offered me money, gold and sometimes even vehicles just to ensure that their kids stay alive..but sadly money can get a u lot of things but life is not one of them
every night duty i have done in the surgery dept i was not allowed to sleep becoz these concerned would wake me up every ten minutes to check on the patient.the patient would lying unconscious post surgery and every sound he makes would frighten them..once a father and mother both about 55-60 years spent 36hrs non stops manually pumping air into their son's lungs becoz all the ventilators were in use..the kid dint make it, died following a crash..he was drunk but that doesnt matter becoz some ppl here know that the rider may live but others die for no fault of theirs...you live on through the people who care for u..
i know that all the psuedo brave ppl who over compensate for their tiny genitalia will be reading this and going "huh! ppl die in their sleep, anything can happen anytime so might as well have fun doing it.."
that doesnot mean that u will drink poison if u were told that 6 out of ten ppl who take it will die..thinking that u are among the lucky 4..well if u do drink it then u are not brave u are an idiot who deserves to die.."
my final point is that think for 5 seconds before u do stupid stuff.. and believe me a helmet doesnt save u...about 50% of the accident cases we get with injuries are ppl who wear helmets. falling under a bus wont make a difference with or without a helmet and sadly better to crash without the helmet becoz it just delays ur death and hurts your loved ones more..there is no amount of care u can take on public roads if u race..

                regards
                Dr.Harsha

ps sorry for the typos i have key board dylexia sometimes..

^^ Rightly Said Harsha. Even if we drive sensibly, there are all chances that we may meet an accident cos of poorest traffic sense in Indians. So why to increase chances by driving Rash.

Wait for right patch to increase throttle.

@Harsha :: Brilliant post Doctor, made me shudder for a moment.
I have personally seen how a simple accident can be so damaging that it can shatter the whole family. Regardless of the safety gear we wear, the fact remains that in India, a two wheel driver is terribly unsafe.

I just wish that there was some way of pumpin some sense in these nonsensical blokes...just yesterday, I was heading for a meet with Inder and Ritwik and there were these three idiots on a splendor, obviously without helmets...they were ridin as if they had to outrun a nuclear missile...
Why cant cops be a bit more attentive when they see somethin like this...why is it that these b#&$*&@% can give a slip to the coppos and the coppos are busy demanding money from a fella who has gone over the white line at the traffic light.
In Pune, the ratio of people who obey traffic lights to those who dont is so messed up that people who want to obey the rules are pushed by those who dont want to wait at the light. As far as I am concerned, I keep on waiting at the extreme left of the lane...any smart ass who wants to jump the lights can drive/ride around me...
The roads are bad, no footpaths, no lane structure, vendors/cycles/dogs/cows/buffaloes/goats/men/women/milkmen/autodrivers/busdrivers ride/walk/crawl/run/jump/sh*t/stop/turn at anytime, potholed roads that spring a leak anytime, road rage incidents, wrong side overtaking, no indicators, concrete roads that have no level, grip (in other words, permanently bad roads), construction work, spitters, stalled vehicles, inadequate road lights...
The list is endless...as much as we would want to do something about it, there is very little that we can actually do about it...and the most we can do is obey rules, regulations, discipline and be patient with all this.

@all: sorry for venting my frustration like this...but it hurts to see a bad civic sense on the part of the millions that make up this otherwise wonderful country.

I have always maintained that there is difference between illiterate and literate...literate and educated...educated and civilized....I feel that very less of us fall in the last bracket of being civilized.

sorry again if I hurt anyone by any chance.

@ Harsha: You're Right, that's why we call them posers. It's all about posing at any cost ... Even I see many of them, too many to mention here.

But no surprise, every biker meets atleast 1 Poser every Week ... that's minimum!

Finally, A Poser a week makes a Biker's determination strong!

I met one such guy on a RX135 on a highway! Back then it was no mercy as it was a clear highway. The RX was a speck in my mirror.

But as soon as we hit the city, u have to change modes mentally. I have been egged on by Passions and splendors in the city !
But now i tell myself to take it easy. I am not going to get any trophy at the end of this race! Nor anyone will be praising me! So shut up and ride slowly,i tell myself.

As they say;"speeding? no one thinks big of you"

^ Harsha : The point here is not talking about that "I dont care whether that person dies or not"..but the point here is that if that person instead of crashing into the bus he would have crashed into you...so that person would surely require to go to hospital immediately but the point is you also would have give hospital a visit without any of your fault....

So, in order to curb this situation atlest WE CAN promote/or atleast follow/obey the traffic rules sincerly....which can/might result in a person be on the right track so that he too follows the rules by merely seeing us.. !!

Also, in addition to this in order to curb this situation many rides are happening these days just to promote ROAD SAFETY..!! (Hope you are aware of this, 1 is happening in Mumbai on 30th Nov and the other is heppening on 1st Dec in Pune)

Hope you get the point(rather than running after me for what all i have written ) what everyone has been telling since the inception of this thread...!!

P.S : And, also please work some bit on your typing, coz the words are toooo mixed up and it might prove a little difficult to read(well i was able to understand thats why i could put up this reply )....!!

                              --------

^ Niranjan : I would say very rightly said by you...!! And, regarding the cops catching the overspeeding ppl....its not the Job of the traffic policemen....their job is just to check whether all the documents are there with the rider(in case of surprise check) and does that person stop at red light. Rest of the points they dont even bother ..

                              --------

^ Satyen : Didnt expect this from you buddy....
i guess you are the one who has been promoting road safety since you joined xBhp....!!

And, now coming to your question/suggestion(whatever it is) .... for that basic reason a safety awareness ride is being organised na....!! So, how many take part/learn in that ride it perfectly depends on one's mind frame...

I may be veering off the context but, funny this...the other day, I was having a word with NitroSatya and I remember saying that If there was enough infrastructure (read racing tracks) here in India that were easily accessible, most of the idiots who wanna race on the roads could get their part of the limelight (read gravel traps)...
These wanna be rossis and such kind treat the roads as their personal race track...I know that having a track may not really reduce the road rash...but at least it may lessen the volumes...
In the city where it's all bumper to bumper, even 40 kmph feels fast...whereas, on the track, even 100 kmph may feel like you are crawling...not to mention the lightning quick reflexes that one needs to be fast on the track...and I am sure...a majority of the road rossis are not tuned for that...
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
