  • Exporting Pulsar bikes

    Hi everyone,

I would like to find more information on how to export a couple of Pulsar bikes from India to Singapore.
I live in Singapore and am aware of all the documentation needed on this side, and the import process.

However I need help with understanding how exporting a motorcycle out of India works.
If you have done it before, or know a company I can contact who takes care of this, or can point to official resources online I can check out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Many thanks in advance

I thought Pulsars were already available in Singapore. However, since they are available in Malaysia and Indonesia, you might as well try there, since the red-tape would be much lesser than what we have here.

          Thanks guys for the replies.
Yes they are already available in Singapore but the prices the shops decided to sell them at are very high.

If I import one myself, I could save a few thousand dollars.

Please anyone who has any information on how the export process for bikes work in India, or can recommend a shop / business to help, I'd really appreciate it.

(PS:Pulsar is not available in Malaysia, only in Indonesia. I'll try Indonesia if India doesn't work out. But I'd get a higher machine price there...).

^^^ Hope this helps, stumbled on this with search on google.

For different products or destination different documentation takes place. For exporting certain products it may require a quality control inspection certificate from the Export Inspection Agency, while food and pharmaceutical products may require a health or sanitary certificate.

However the Shipping Bill/ Bill of Export is the main document required by the Customs Authority for allowing shipment for all products exported from India. Usually the Shipping Bill is of four types. The documents required for the processing of the Shipping Bill are: (1) GR forms (in duplicate) for shipment to all the countries, (2) Four copies of the packing list mentioning the contents, quantity, gross and net weight of each package, (3) Four copies of invoices which contains all relevant particulars like number of packages, quantity, unit rate, total f.o.b./ c.i.f. value, correct & full description of goods, etc, (4) Contract, L/C, Purchase Order of the overseas buyer, (5) AR4 (both original and duplicate) and invoice and (6) Inspection/ Examination Certificate.

The major distinction of the Shipping Bill lies with regard to the products being subject to certain conditions including, (a) Export duty/ cess, (b) Free of duty/ cess, (c) Entitlement of duty drawback, (d) Entitlement of credit of duty under DEPB Scheme and (e) Re-export of imported goods

Meanwhile, the formats presented for the Shipping Bill are: (i) White Shipping Bill in triplicate for export of duty free of goods, (ii) Green Shipping Bill in quadruplicate for the export of goods which are under claim for duty drawback, (iii) Yellow Shipping Bill in triplicate for the export of dutiable goods, (iv) Blue Shipping Bill in 7 copies for exports under the DEPB scheme. However for the goods which are cleared by Land Customs, Bill of Export is required instead of Shipping Bill which can also be categorised into four types (white, green, yellow and pink).

and finally your gonna love this if it works..

Bharat Traders (Exports) - is a leading Exporter, Distributor, Supplier of motorcycles , scooters, three wheeler vans from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

This company supposedly exports bikes i.e. all kinds of bikes available in India. I'm not sure how accurate the information posted in the above link is, but you can give it a try.

              Phillipines...

Pulsars are also sold in Sri Lanka but importing from there won't be cheap since the prices of everything are quite high in srilanka.
You may like to import them from Phillipines where they are sold as Kawasaki Rousers.
              Whats there in a signature?

Happen to stumble across these guys - Honda Motorcycles - Yamaha Motorcycles and Suzuki Motorcycles Distributor and Exporter | Motorcyclesindia ( A Unit Of Bharat Traders (Exports), Mumbai

I don't have any experience with them, may be you should try talking to them to see if they can meet your needs. Looks like these guys export motorcycles.

                  Hi guys,

Many thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it !

I have contacted a couple of motorcycle exporters, so for the record in case someone else is looking for info, here's where I'm at so far:

                  - Apparently some exporters jack up a bit the prices, compared to what one can get by going to India themselves to get the bike and ship it. Still cheaper than buying it in Singapore though. So it's best to go through a few of them to have a good idea of the price range.

                  - Export documents and process is all taken care of by the exporter, all one has to do is make sure he sends the documents needed for the importing country.

I am now looking into the best way to get the bikes shipped, I was quoted 250-300 USD to ship 2 Pulsars to Singapore by one of the exporters.

Thanks for providing a few leads on exporters, I will contact them as well and see what their pricing is like.

The other issue is payment: ideally having someone in India I could trust would do the trick, I'd send the money to them and they'd make payment on my behalf. But if I can't find such person, what payment mode or strategy do you guys recommend ? I have heard about a letter of credit, anyone has experience with this process?
