  • Exporting bike from India to Singapore

    Hello there,

I am from Singapore and is intending to import bike into my country from India.

I have called some of the showroom dealers and they have said that they are unable to export the bike, however, one of the dealer recommend that I get a friend in India (Which I have) to buy the bike from them and then let my friend do the exporting. I am ok with that but, is this legal?

The price paid will be full amount OTR (On the road price which includes insurances, registration, tax ,etc) and it will be under my friend's name.

After purchasing the bike, my friend will use the bike to travel to his house. There, He will contact a logistics company from the same town to do crating air vacuum pack the bike. I will be sending over my local company (Singapore) to handle all exports. My friend would just need to help me with the crating, and my company will come and collect and settle the rest.

I am wondering if this is legal to do since the bike is already registered under my friend's name.

Would he have to deregister the bike and deregister the insurance?

What is the process in India.

Will be in need of your advice.

    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it

        I have read it,

But! we are looking at different ways of bringing motorcycles. hurhurhur.

I would like to know if,

Individuals who bought the bike in India can export the bike.

        say a scenario.

Person A buys the bike in India. He has to pay the insurance, tax, registration fees as required by law in India. The bike is registered using Person A's name and it is legally his bike in India.

        An example.
The bike cost 1.2Lakh on the road. This breaks down the price into
        a)Machine Price : 1 Lakh
        b) Insurance, tax etc fees: 0.2 Lakh

Person A now decides to export the bike to Singapore.

        1) Can he do this in India? (can he export it)
        2) Can he de- register the bike? Since the bike is under his name, he wants to sell it.
        3) Can he receive back the insurance money, tax and registration cost involved in purchasing the bike? (Can he get back the 0.2 Lakhs)

        Please advice! any experts

        AND

I have also tried the exporter mentioned in the previous post. He hiked up the price my more than US$1000 which is 50285 rupees. So I am looking at alternative option.

        AND

Is there any Indian Logistics company that does crating?
What i mean by crating is

        Would really appreciate you inputs!
