  • Crimson Moto Gear : Chest Guard

More details at: Crimson Moto Gear, INDIA

The nice people at Crimson Motor Gear (CMG) sent us a sample of their chest guard. The basic aim, of course, is to protect the rider from chest injury during a normal mishap.

    In their own words:

CMG have come up with a new product Light Weight Basic "Thorax (Chest) Guard".

It is made of best quality materials to protect the rider from Chest injury during a normal mishap. We all know that no matter what Protective Gears we wear, there is no guarantee of complete protection. Our Chest protector is targeted at Tourers who travel on their motorcycles.

The chest protector can be used mainly in the winter season to avoid the direct hit of cold winds in the chest and cause thorax problem. Even during the summers it can be used to avoid dusts and flying stones from hitting your chest. This is made keeping in Mind that not always we can wear a Riding Jacket which is too heavy and hot.We have made it very reasonable for every biker to own it. During winter it can be used inside our Jackets and during summer on top of Tshirts. Also best for city riding.

    --
According to me it is a very thoughtful product and costs just one movie ticket, at 380 rupees for the premium one. It also lends a very cool look if worn on top too. I would have liked it to be more thick to give that extra peace of mind. Even if you do wear proper riding gear this cab be worn below it to give extra protection at the back along with chest protection which lacks in most jackets.

The quality was also very good and I am sure that the style will also go well, specially people with naked and muscular bikes. Add a camo trouser and you are ready to be in the army!

I did not try the black one. I guess that the only difference between the black and the camo is the styling. I would say go for the Camo style, the only risk being that police might mistake it for a bullet proof vest in these days of turmoil.

thank you guys (makes a bow)

The black one would be good, both over or under the jacket. Camo in the present scenario, post Mumbai, could attract cops gone hyper...

I seriously doubt the usage of such protector. Most of the times (read 99%) I wear a leather jacket to provide ample protection from dust/wind/stones (or mild rain/mud) even on hot sunny days. And I am almost certain it can't be that hard that it would protect you from chest injuries since making it harder will restrict the riders movements. It just seems to be an extra padding that too with out sleeves.A jacket would be more useful since it protects your arms too , to a certain extent specially from bruises.

A jacket doesn't give protection to the chest....thats why its been designed/introduced by the co.

It must of the same material that our riding jacket's back protection material consists of..!!

A jacket is thick enough from the front as well which can give you ample protection. However since you'd like to buy it , I can expect some feedback from you in the near future.I feel its just another layer of clothing for our already "warm/hot in summers" riding jackets.

@nikhil: very true. It will better for city rides, or for someone who cannot afford a full armour jacket though. 380 rupees is hardly anything.

The difference between the Black "Micro" and ARMY is the design and quality. Performance same.
