  • WARNING: Getting gear from eBay India and the likes

I was looking at a thread in xBhp and saw someone mentioning that they got Alpinstar gloves for 500 INR from eBay India. Note the spelling of the company. Out of curiosity, I looked up the website, and true indeed, they have seller putting gloves on sale for 400 bucks. Some are daring enough to use the correct brand name Alpinestars, or even Alpinestar. Fact is, no glove from A* will come below $50, which equates to 2500 INR.

Here's an example of the forgery:
ORIGINAL ALPINESTAR Riding Gloves Ltd - Black 1 Pair | eBay

Please be wary of these sales. They are cheap, third-grade products that come out of Chinese factories not affiliated to the manufacturers and have not gone through the QC process. One fall and your will have bruised knuckles and what nots.

Similar advice goes out for other brands like Fox Racing and AXO. Knockoffs are not half as good as original products. The price tag on original justifies the QC done and protection offered. Before buying anything, do a price match on the manufacturer's website or eBay US / Amazon.

One of the reasons that I moved away from A*s was the knockoffs that are floating around. Lost trust in the brand due to it.

now a days there are a lot of duplicate products floating in the market. we should check thouroghly before buying and if possible buy from well known outlets only.

those alpinestar gloves looks so bad in fit and finish.

Ya you are right....When I got my a* gp plus for 6k and after going through the same ebay few months back it said 1499, thought as if i was cheated. Then comes the story, after a week or so the same was mentioned for 1099 with some discount and offers. and further it has come down now...all these chineese products makes us lose trust in the original brand itself

The brand is still one of the best buddy, the sources are unreliable, specially in India.

I heard they are available in Karol Bagh as well. Caution for people going there for shopping.

You are still lucky mate! GP Plus sells on the higher end of 200 USD! Whatever you spent was worth every penny.

^^^ I know it's one of the best, but just lost faith in the brand. Till 5 years back (while it was still not that well known in India), I opted only for A*s. By the way, personally, I feel that RS Taichi is much better suited for us Indians. Much better fitting for our body types and the quality is superb. The only other brand that I personally prefer to RS Taichi is Kushitani. But that is very hard to get.
