  • Old Days: Nostalgia.

    Nostalgia

Internet became a phenomenon somewhere around 2003 and there were all these early automobile oriented websites around that time many of which contained scoops, previews, and specifications of future bikes. Over the last 10 years, some materialized some never did. I thought it'll be a great idea to share, discuss and LOL at things that were circulating once upon a time on the internet. Its gonna be fun especially if you realize that some bikes had a great deal of expectations behind them only to become market duds. Others which now we call as old bikes were then game changers.

mods if such a thread already exists, merge this there and lets continue discussion there. I created this thread hoping several others in this forum would enjoy a taste of nostalgia.

Let me start off with some links.

    Yamaha Gladiator 165

Supposed 165cc 15-16 BHP bike from Yamaha that had over the roof specs, great looks (atleast in the images) that never materialized and was featured in Top Gear in January 2006.

    Yamaha Fazer 250Fi

Another bike speculated to launch at the same time as Gladiator 165 that is STILL not out. Amazing specs and insane mileage (all speculative ofcourse).

I don't have link to the said top gear article but here is a commentary on the same: http://www.indiabike.com/topgear/art...ch06/index.htm

To complement the sporty stance and athletic looks, Apache will sport wide tyres in black alloy wheels of 17 inch in the front and 18 inch at the rear for greater road grip. A special paint is being used on the bike to add to the unique look. Just noticed that the rear wheels are bigger than front wheels. Was it a typo or is it really the case ???

Oh and anyone has links to early 2003-2005 era reviews/road-tests where the "new" 4-strokes were pitted against final generation 2-strokes like Shogun and RX-Z and their specs compared ?? Always been looking for those.

    Topic Approved temporarily.

Kind of reminded me of those old days when rumors were what we believed and remained happy for that moment, irrespective of what was going to happen.

NOTE: The links given do not have reliable information. Don't trust them. A Gladiator 165 wouldn't give 65 kmpl, and the pics are of older Gladiator 125, which is now SS125 I think.

Lol!!! I remember using rediff account in office during 1999

No links, but, some blokes had spread rumor during the 2004-05 a come back of Yamaha Rx100 2S. That was especially during the time when Yamaha was seriously falling despite their attempt to revive their Rx 135's.
