  • Spot the issue!

Hi everyone, just came up with this idea.
What say we post recordings/videos/pics etc, of issues we face/see on the internet/neighbor face's etc here so that we can brain storm and find the underlying causes. I believe this'd be educative, interesting and spot on. Similar to the thread in which we guess which bike it is by seeing partial pics of it, though this'd be a bit more on the technical side.

    Here's my contribution.

    Bajaj XCD 135 L.e.d mod - YouTube

This a fellow Xbhpians XCD 135, if you pay attention you'll notice that theres a thumping sound, and the sound only appears in lower RPM's but vanishes as the RPM climbs.

Answer - The issue was diagnosed by psr sir, to be a wornout conrod bearing, causing the piston to slap the bore at lower RPM's and vanish at higher RPM's cause of the centrifugal force.

    CRF230 Noise - YouTube

This is a random video I found online of a CRF230 a.k.a ZMA. Notice the wierd sound. The valve clearance was double checked and ruled out its something else.

Answer - Yet to be solved. Though I suspect a kaput tensioner.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The left side is pretty loud. No matter how many times I check and recheck the valve clearance. It's always louder on the left. New roller bearings, hardly any end play. Wrist pin? Piston slap? Anything to worry about? Hasn't really gotten worse, and the oil stays clean and full. Help or suggestions are more than welcome! I'm a I'm a "noob" when it comes to BMW airheads. I am however, an experienced mechanic. Just seems too loud on the left! Right sounds fine.

BMW R90/6 valve noise? Or piston slap? Help! - YouTube

Answer - "Worn rocker bearings, and too much end float. Figured out it wasn't the piston or wrist pin by running it on the opposite cylinder with the spark plug out on the left bank."
