    Hello guys,
No doubt that all of us like and love to take our personal, mechanical steeds to long or maybe short rides. But has this question ever sneaked into your mind? That thanks to the great Indian road conditions, that the possibility of getting into a fatal crash occurred? No pessimism intended, but as far as I know(puttering along a used pulsar 150, currently waiting for a cbr 250) that one fine day you are rolling along and an idiot crashes on to you. If you survive
(well I did) that in order to claim at a court of law would it help to have video evidence? So my question boils down to this, clip on cameras for bikes whether tanks mounted or helmet mounted camera's worth it's salt or just an extra toy? by the way where one can acquire one for a reasonable sum?

There are cheap ones available in Bangaluru for Rs. 2000 or so, which give HD recording but don't have a display so you can't frame them well.
Some midrange cameras can be used if they have mounting stuff.

Then there are GoPro ones, which are premium waterproof mountable stuff.

Other things like you mobile camera can be mounted by doing some DIY. In fact, some OS'es like Symbian, Android, etc. have certain video recording softwares like SymDVR, which support "Car mode".
That is, in car mode, it records for long trips, without switching the display on to save battery.

As far as accidents are concerned, our laws are not that strong anyways. But still it helps, specially if the other person attacks you after the accident.

exactly the same thought have occurred to me also, and is lingering in my mind since long time, but could not find a solution.

the thing is the moment we start the bike, it should go into recording mode, so that we don't have to switch on the recording everytime we ride. and when we turn off our bikes, it should automatically stop recording and save it. it should be able to delete old recordings and save new ones.

Not sure, but court doesn't accept these video evidences as solid proofs these days (don't ask me but why they accept their stupid useless CCTV evidences though)

Our entire system of law has huge loop holes; what if the other party is strong enough? All the video evidences will be shattered to pieces isn't it?

IMHO, have good insurance which will help with hospital expenses; for court, keep dragging the case for several years until one of you get frustrated & settle things out of court. By that time the entire incident will be forgotten.

OR...pay the fine at court & worst case surrender your license that you obtained from your nearest RTO
