  • HELP - Temp Registration TR/TC ???

Fellow members i have one doubt here

what are Temp Registrations TR or TC ? and how these are Advantages or Disadvantage using these ?

is it advisable to use TR for vehicle or one should wait till he gets Permanent Reg number before taking his vehicle out of showroom ??

Is inter-state travel allowed ? or One can use TR number on regular commute ??

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

My understanding goes (not concrete though) TEMP registrations are for vehicles that have been sold by dealers & waiting for permanent number. TC is for vehicles that are on test/prototype vehicles. TR, I don't know

Needless to say, best & safest bet is to use the vehicle after obtaining permanent registration

Why not? It depends upon the rider ofcourse; but the vehicle is liable to penalize & is at the mercy of the cops

Simplest rule I remember is TEMP registration enables one to ride between house - dealer - RTO; MAY BE within the city is extended for convenience.

BTW what have you booked? Ninja 250R? If you don't want to disclose, PM me pls?

TR - i think stands for temporary registration (because in hyderabad we get a TR, something like AP 11 TR 2222 and i was told by the dealer that you can ride with a TR for 30 days.(they put a yellow sticker with the TR number on the no. plates). I have ridden my dio with this TR for 25days/650km without any issues.
And when i checked the online registration number look up (from the AP RTO) it had both the TR and the permanent regn number listed.

I think the TR and the no. of kms u can use it before permanent registration varies from state to state. (and the mercy of the cops too )

        TC - i dont know.

Temp registrations are marked by TR, which has a validity of 30 days (which can be renewed). It costs much less than permanent registration (~400INR). Usually it provides a 30days window to apply for permanent registration, incase the showroom is away from your desired place of registration. Interstate travel is allowed. Many people do buy Audi/Merc/BMW/Ducati/superbikes in metro cities and have TR and register it in their place afterwards.
Don't know the difference between TR and TC but you can see that the bike ridden by MG on his Kerala trip bears TC and he did travel Pune-Kolkata, Chennai-TVM-Pune.

It is not advisable to go out of town with a temp number, you are liable to be challaned!

Carry all documents, insurance, original bill everything. Make sure you get a PUC also, cops won't listen if we tell them about emission warranty mentioned in manual. Is the permanent number plate on your vehicle?

                        Re: HELP - Temp Registration TR/TC ???

So my 2017 Duke 200 will be delivered today. It will have a red TC sticker on the numberplate. The dealer is some 5-6 kms away from my residence.
Will taking delivery of the vehicle be a problem? Can I ride it home?

                        I live in Pune btw

There is a different take upon this in each state. The Temp Registration is valid for a month so naturally they do not expect you to not use the bike in mean time, but then we have these invisible norms to follow like there shouldn't be more than a couple of Kms on the ODO while inspecting for permanent registration. So for a hassle free process, keep the Kms low.

Ideally They check if all documents are in place.
                            All details match.
Chassis no. Engine no. match with respective entries on documents.
No scratches or any signs of a collision on vehicle.
Time line of Temp Registration not expired.

                            And that is all.

                              Thanks.

The bike is home safe but well under the 100km mark with a TC plate, with Road Tax paid. Surprisingly, I haven't received an SMS regarding the same.
This really makes me doubt if I'll get my number via SMS.

Is there some place (website/portal) where regular people can check their registration status in Maharashtra?

                              Thanks in advance.

                              Cheers
