  • Which is the best Normal Petrol (Unleaded Petrol)?

    Hi,

I want to know which is the best normal Pertrol (unleaded Petrol) whether Indian Oil - Normal Petrol or HP - Normal Petrol or BP - - Normal Petrol.
I am using Indian Oil - Normal Petrol but now i am using HP - normal petrol, will it cause any problem to the bike.
I have Pulsar 150 Dtsi and clocked 45000 Kms.

    Please let me know...
    Thanks in Advance.

Topic approved and moved to GBD.

Buddy, petrol is mostly the same. We may get adulterated fuel at many companies' pumps, and we may get good fuel too at the same company's pumps in a different city. Companies don't matter that much.

If members want to add anything contrary to what I said, feel absolutely free to do so as I've mostly felt almost the same performance and mileage results, from most pumps in my city, and I could be wrong too.

Most bunks that are operated by dealers here do all kinds of shoddy things ...learned it the hard way...so now i stick to company owned bunks only.

It's like asking which milk is the best within Amul, Mother Dairy, Gokul etc! it's the same Cow's milk with just different companies branding and selling! But still the Quality depends on How much less or more the Milk is adulterated.
Same is the case with Fuel's ( as far for Desi IC engines normal Unleaded is just fine but make sure You are not cheated at Pumps)
Hope That Explanation works (By a Layman for a Layman).

I normally fill from Indian oil. There is a govt. operated pump here. Almost 95% of my fills are from there. HP and BP are also good. Just find a trustworthy pump in your area bro .

While on long tours all depends on your intuition .

At the operational level, all the fuel are same (irrespective of the company). This I say coz some time a Co. say BP can take MS a.k.a Petrol from IOC and sell it under their Invoice.
It's the Depot, or the transporter or the dealers who mix bad stuffs to increase their margin.

SO, i would suggest - hunt for a pump where you feel that your bike is giving better mileage, and is running smoother. Then stick to that pump. Also make sure that the Pump has higher turnover/footfall, as it increases the chances to get fresher petrol.

'As per my experience Petrol varies a lot from bunk to bunk in smaller cities. In cities like Delhi I was getting the same quality (based on free revving nature/feel) from every pump.
In hyderabad, my friend blown off his wagon R's sparkplugs using petrol from a bunk which we never went again to.
Its all about experience.. you buy petrol from a bunk you didnt like it.. you go to some other bunk.
There is a bunk 1 km from my house and 3 two-three kms away. I always try to take petrol from Bharat Petroleum "pure for sure" petrol bunk that's around 5 km away.
BP "pure for sure" has some added internal auditing mechanism to check on quality.
                1) Its always better to choose a pump that's on the inside of the city rather than outskirts.
                2) There are more chances of rust/dirt and adulteration on rarely used bunks than the bunks that are used more frequently.
                3) Well kept bunks having latest dispensing units are some additional features that you should look for.

May be its OT but still related. Don't fill just after the fuel station's (under ground) tank has been refilled. Because when tanker refills them, all the settled impurities gets in suspension with fuel, if it finds way through, can cause trouble to bike/car.

Filled up unleaded petrol from Shell petrol pump at wakad, pune. lets see how it perform.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

I've bad experience with Club HP. Dont know about others, but when fill with Bharat Petroleum-normal getting better mileage now.
I just turned off the fuel cock while filling because the pressure dissolves all the dust/impurities down in your tank and can enter the carburettor.
