After surviving a horrific motorcycle crash in 2003, in which Talan Skeels-Piggins back was shattered in between his shoulder blades and his spine was severed. This courageous man took up skiing and participated in the Paralympics and represented his country for 7 years. He finally retired in 2010 due to multiple shoulder injuries.

After adapting a bike to his disability, he started his quest to relearn the art of biking. He now participates regularly in races in UK, where he is competitive and not just a grid filler.
He has started an organisation, Bike Experience, to help other disabled riders to get back onto their bikes. He was one of the torch bearers in the recent Olympics.

    Skeels-Piggins

'It took two-and-a-half years battling against the powers that be telling me I'm not going to race, now I am going quicker and closing the gap on the guys at the front. I have beaten other riders, I don't just come last.'
'When you become disabled quite often your choice is taken away from you,' he said. 'We are showing them that the impossible is possible, and from that any other challenge they face is going to be surmountable.'
He is an inspiration to all bikers. He is a reminder to those who complain of facing difficulties to chase their passion, that life can be much more difficult, but a biker faces all odds and triumphs.

I found this video of Alan Kempster. Had to share it.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

This is indeed interesting! Couldn't watch the video (Youtube blocked ) but the article makes for some optimistic news!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
