  • Conspicuity sticker - A probable life saviour!!!

    Hello All,

I recently stumbled upon the term "Conspicuity", and the extensive use of these stickers in Trucks and Trailors.

And thats when I realized that these could be one of the most important accessory to promote safe riding.

I managed to get a couple of strips of these and pasted them on my Matt Black LS2 Helmet. Here is the image.. Magnificient reflection!!!!

    What do you say???

these are also known as retro reflective tapes, a mandatory in all commercial vehicles. are available in three colors. white, orange and red.
you may get it in any 3M shop. their quality is good compared to others.

Been using this stickers from 3M for some time now. I wear a reflective jacket and also the stickers are stuck to my Helmet from front and rear, Small patches on the front fork of my Thunderbird and rear seat rest

Reflective jackets are available for Rs.70/- at almost all shops in SJP road near Townhall. And Reflective stickers from 3M are available in all sticker cutting shops in Bangalore

Very useful and helps a lot during night rides for me. Yes i look like a alien and all flashy when i ride during night but i am absolutely OK with the flashy thing when compared to safety

@ Satya: I used 3M for a while, but the sticking potential was wearing out pretty soon, then I got "Avery" instead. Awesome is not the word. I am trying to find someone who can plotter cut it for me as per the helmet design.

@ lonely rider: I pruchased a leather jacket with reflective stripes on it from the US, I didnt find decent ones here.. And yes, safety is paramount man! I am sure everyone here prefers looking like an alien riding a bike, than a bandaged alien lying on the hospital bed or probably deathbed!!! Mind sharing pics of your jacket?

Hi Murlidhar, I'm sorry I dont dont know where you would get this in Hyderabad. I got some strips from my dad (he is into printing and signanges!! ). I then cut them myself and stuck it on the helmet.

You may want to try asking a number plate guy in your area (the ones who make reflector number plates) as they may be in a position to give you some link..

This is what I wear over my riding jacket during low visibility condition i.e. rains & night!

I might look like a lame-o.. but heck the half drunk truck drivers sure can see me from a long distance away, whether its raining or its dark!

PS: I'm wearing a rain coat over my riding jacket

I got Nerve reflective vest for rs. 1600 which is pretty good in quality and is easy washable. Though I would love to have another cheaper option for myself. Anyone knows any dealer in NCR?

Me too, but my jacket costed Rs30.

I use it while cycling. Have used it only once for night riding. You can wash it, dries off quickly, the velcro strap are good and so is the reflection.
