Well its India, its you and its me! I believe whenever it comes in your life to choose a "she" whether its a bike or a G.F. to be serious about, there is a defined limit.

The lines above gives a summary of what i have gone through in previous 2 months on my decision to by a bike, to be precise Yamaha Fz 16, oh ya i earn and all you know but you share things with family. I am at Bangalore away from home getting ripped by our friendly neighbourhood auto drivers, and now i took a DECISION to go for a bike.

After that a call to inform my dad about the decision to buy a bike, to bring in a new spanking girl, everybody knows what the answer would be it was a big NOooO, followed by
    1. Why do u need one ?
    2. Rather buy a car...
    3. You have pulsar back home we won't send it but still you don't need to buy.

Most people do not understand that riding a bike is music to ears, its like knees hugging a mean machine like a girl in your arms. A car does not give that feeling it feels more of an iron box protecting you from feeling the wind and rain, and that smell of soil. I am sure many ppl agree with me here! Somebody got a solution on convincing?

I am trying the one below:

Well i am still going to get that bike as its known "nothing's wrong if Dadda does not know"

If you need to convince, you'll pretty much blown out of the water even if you earn a packet!

If you got a cool dad (Chanderjeet, you there?), then he'll spur you to go to the last dhaba on the border and bring something to eat from there

/please spare me the morality brigade's speeches about how to negotiate with parents etc - stuff it.

Patience & Perseverance. Key to every problem of this world.

Btw, where is your home? U should get your Pulsar transferred to B'lore. If you want to ride, you already have a bike. Now bikes are economical. But parents generally don't trade this fact against security. But still persuade them to at least get your Pulsar transferred.

        All the best !!!

My dad has had a bad history with his girl, the machine kind of course . So it doesn't matter if its a first or a second one, he's wary of me riding any bike, period. So if buying one bike is crazy enough according to him, a second one will have him palpitating.

Though he has been somewhat ok with my girl(the human kind) tastes and desires. So i guess part should be easy.

Yes parents, mine at least, find it difficult to accept as to why their son is crazy or passionate about something which just gets him from point A to B. So like yours they too push the idea for a car to well....actually get a lot more people from point A to point B at an apparently higher level of offered comfort. What they cant relate to and we can is the feeling of individuality that the bike gives just in those few moments or a lot of few moments of getting from point A to B and everything that comes along with it. One's parents, or least to say Dad in particular has to be crazy enough for bikes to understand his son's craze.

                  Imagine ......
u have an interview in a BIG company which is willing to give u a 100% pay hike, very impressive work, double promotion, lotza incentives and what not ! .. u are fed up of ur current company which pay peanuts, no appreciation, a lousy and arrogant boss, u need a real change.

The company has asked u to attend interview in full formals (failing which may cost ur new job offer). Imagine u are standing on chinna-swamy stadium signal and there is a heavy jam, u r on ur FZ-16 in full crisp formals, and suddenly its start showering.
There is no place to hide in a range of 1km....

                  .. then u'll remember a 50k costing third hand Maruti-800 ! ...

BTW how old are u and are u a student or working?

u cant be in ur right minds to compare the use of buying a car vs a bike..
it is our personal choice..both have their roles to play in our lives and society..
i use both my car and bike..and love both equally..
my point is whether car or bike if she makes u happy she is worth the headache...i cant stay without my bike now but at the same time wouldnt want to sell my car just becoz i have my bike..
                          ride on and ride safe...
                          regards

Yeah, start a family then u'll know ..
when u'll start searching for bunjee hooks for saree guards to carry stuff, or carrying aaloo-tamatar in your adidas backpack (I did that once) ...

So for me a car is meant for carrying people/vegetable/matresses/shopping stuffs/furniture etc. from point A to point B.

A Bike is meant for carrying 'enthu' people from point A to point B!

Ur problem's sol- Tell ur parents that Pulsar engine vibrates badly and is giving very bad mileage, so sell it off. And instead u r getting a low performance/high mileage junk called as FZ-16 which stands for 'Fuel zip 16 times than other bikes'.

He He ... I had the same problem when I was a freshman at my Engg College. Dad wanted me to ride the 20 year old moped (which to be fair was in tip top condition) to Engg college - 14km up and down... Mum said you either take the car or buy a new bike.

I had mum on my side so I got a bike ..but dad was still not happy. He wanted me to buy the "BYK" from BAL - instead of the P180 I bought .. :P

When you really want to have it - go for it .. I am sure with time your folks will come to terms with it
