Air-Fuel Mixture Fundas
Guys plz tell me abt tweaking air fuel mixture ratio. If I understand correctly, it's the ratio of fuel to air that's mixed together before igniting it... If there's more fuel in the mixture, the mileage is gonna drop. To increase mileage we reduce the fuel in the mixture presumably. But this is gotta have a flip side right...

So is it possible to increase the power of bike by just giving more petrol to it
i mean when i use chocke bike races and give superbe pickup
so if i use chocke(giving more fule) in 150cc bike
would it give a picup of a 200cc bike!!!!!Black is the colour of bike as well as of the death also ( Be aware of it )

air-fuel mixture can be adjusted in the following ways:
1>Air screw - Will affect only low end rideability, no difference whatsoever in topend and midrange.
2>Main jet/Jet needle height - Will affect the midrange, top end. But just putting a main jet which is too big will do no good, mixture will turn out too rich, to compensate for that, special methods gotta be employed like free flow air filter.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...983/banner.jpg

Hi Guys,
I have got a couple of useful links, which should give more information about the Air Fuel Ratio and other concepts.
Hope it helps !
Hey rohit, so adjusting the air screw i.e the screw we see outside the carb, that would adjust only the idling, right ?

there r 2 screws normally for mix.one sets idle other air-fuel.if air fuel screw is nearer to the air cleaner,if turned in leans the air going in,opposite if screw is nearer to intake.\'87 High Torque RD 350B

the ideal air/fuel ratio is 14:1 ... to increase power one can increase richness to 12:1 but beyond that power decreases ...

The ratio is the ratio of the air (14):fuel (1) by weight. Ie: A Mixture of 14 parts by weight of air, and 1 part by weight of fuel, will be ignited in the engine. Plz correct me if I'm wrong Nikhil...
Can anybody tell me what will be the air-fuel ratio setting when a new p180dtsi would roll out from plant... And when u actually tweak the setting, is there any way to measure the ratio? I mean those screws (or whatever) which have to be tweaked to change this thing, are they caliberated?? if not, how do we know what (and how much) we are tweaking...When u see a SPECK on the horizon and SMELL BURNIN\' RUBBER...Know this:- I JUST PASSED BY...

Yeah, that...even i'd like to know. And sorry man sabby. I should've checked the no of ur posts, before going ahead and explaining to u this simple stuff... no offence...quote:Originally posted by sabby

u have a o2 sensor which measures it,or you can use other devices such as CO probe etc.all there measure the amount/% of a certain gas in exhaust hence u can work the eq. in reverse and find how much % of air was mixed with fuel.
