  • High Security Number Plate

I brought a Pulsar 220 F on 16/4/13 from Dewan Motors, Mahavir Enclave , New Delhi - 45. It has ben 13 days since I purchased the vehicle. I have alredy been issued a Registration Number however the dealer has been postponing the installation of the HSRP Plate by 10-15 days every time I enquire. Guys please inform me the timeframe for the installation. I see a lot of hue and cry in the newspapers that they have expedited the issuance process and there are number plates lying with the RTO since the dealers have not been collecting the same.
I am pulled aside regularly by cops for driving on an empty number plate and has caused me great inconvinience. I hace sent a mail to Bajaj Auto Customer Service regarding the same but am hoping no responses from them. Whom can I reach out to have the same completed ????

Dealer usually have a bunch of Reg Nos. to choose from. It happened with me for my 3 purchases (P220, TVS Wego & LIVA). Once, you choose a no., they send the file to RTO for further processing. The No. you choose is finalized, kind of. Now, with the new HSRP, you will need to wait for a call from your dealer about it's progress or you can also contact the dealer or the HSRP vendor for updates. Usually, it takes a month or two for the HSRP to get ready. Can I ask why you don't have a Reg No.?

I do have a Regn.No however it is the attitude of the dealer which seems dicey to me !! Secondly I am planning a trip in the later part of the month ....without the plates that seems to be postponed !! Also I think they have speeded up the process of HSRP issuance .....am not sure whether it takes a month or so like you quoted !

          Re: High Security Number Plate

I would suggest that you get a no. plate fixed with the Regn no. alloted (Hope you are not alloted any no. having TEMP). Get a very basic one fixed till you don't get HSRP. Avoid going to tour w/o a valid HSRP because if you are stopped, by any chance, by any State Police then getting out of the situation can be tricky.

I also have a temp RC which is valid for the next 3 months and they possibly will issue a permanent RC in the 4th month. Should my trip plans be postponed till I get the perm RC ?

Tell the dealer to issue a temporary number plate till you dont get the HSRP. Mind you, the cops might create undue trouble for you, since you ride without a number plate (personal experience). Also, the RC smart card is issued after about 4 months from the date of registration at the RTO (atleast here in bombay). Till than, you can ride with the registration papers. If a cop asks for RC, tell him its a new bike and will not be an issue. Please dont go on tour without the number plate. The cops will trouble you.

What is the difference between normal plate and HSRP?
Why don't you write the no. using a marker on blank plates till u get the proper one.

I still can't see what is the point of high security plates, the market is already full of fakes, I can order tomorrow and receive the next day any number I give the dealer, now isn't that the big joke?
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

I have the default plate which I received fitted on the bike. I am planning to get the stickering of the number on the same...HSRP will be a different plate altogether. The question I have is if I take the bike for tripping with the stickered number plate and the temp RC what about cop trouble in outside states ?

Nonthing is wrong with the stickered number plates. What matters is a valid number plate and you have it. The temp RC should not be an issue. Carry the original documents with you and this should be fine. All the cops are aware that, the RC for a new bike comes after certain period. If the cops are in mood for bribes, then my boy, god save you!!

I don't think you are suppose to ride/drive a vehicle with TEMP registration.

                          Re: High Security Number Plate

Is HSRP mandatory only in Delhi/NCR or other regions too? What are the arguments for/against HSRPs? I opted for a normal stickered license plate while purchasing my bike.

BTW...barely few days after delivery of my bike, I took it for 2 rides (Bangalore-Mysore, Bangalore-Krishnagiri, across the state border!) with a T/C regn and no RC book - and nobody bothered to check. I guess down here, cops are fine as long as you have a valid D/L.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

You opted?? Are you allowed to opt between HSRP and normal plate? I don't think so. Check the invoice.
It's upon every state authority's conviction on how they want to handle it.
