It took me a minute to figure out who the sender was!
During #roadTripUnited2021, we were riding from Madikeri to Mangalore and took an interior road to shoot some photos. It was a densely forested area. We were shooting with the drone when suddenly the drone's battery died and it fell near a small house among the coconut trees. There was heavy vegetation with tall grass and it was very difficult to find the drone. The extremely hot and humid weather made the matter worse. We all were in heavy riding gear and sweating like pigs. The family who lived in this small house saw the drone falling and joined us in the search. They also got us water and kept searching with us until we found it. It took about 30-45 minutes and it drained us of all the energy.
The family living in that house included a man in his 60s, his son and his daughter. We thanked the family while trying to rest a bit before leaving. They were obviously curious to see our bikes and a small question-answer session followed. And while all this was going on, the son climbed a coconut tree and got us about a dozen fresh tender coconuts. The sister peeled those coconuts and gave them to us. Those were the best tender coconuts I've ever had. Hesitantly, we offered them some money for coconuts, but they refused, saying we were their guests.
Then today, this guy texts me, enquiring about our well-being. Such a beautiful little gesture. We met only once, had nothing common except being human beings, and barely talked to each other for 5-10 minutes. And there's a good chance that we will never meet each other again.
They not only went out of their way to help us but also kept us in their thoughts after so many days and made efforts to ask about our well-being during this tough time.
My entire biking/roadtripping life is full of such stories, but this one is a little special!
