Hi,Originally posted by MANU JOSEPH View PostSo, guys what about the crank weight of Thunderbird 350???
Just came across this thread today as I was looking on how to modify UCE 350 Electra. I have already done half the job last year where I had to replace my crank owing to bearing noise. Along with that I also changed the block piston assembly, timing gears, starter, coil etc, almost half of the engine. after spending good sum, I am not satisfied with the performance of my bull and hence started to dig for more information on what could be wrong in the mod.
1. I have replaced the crank with the 500cc crank and it does fit in the same case as there is space available without any mod to the crank case.
2. My mechanic wanted to increase the power by using my old block and going for an over sized piston with some boring to the block which will generate more power to move the heavier crank. Unfortunately, he has not come across an over sized piston or he has not searched full heartedly.
3. The issue I have at hand is, I am not having similar pickup as my friends Electra and I now know that it is owing to the heavier crank which is slowing down my bull as the 350cc piston is not capable of pushing the heavier crank with the same power it would push a lighter crank which comes factory fitted.
4. There have been no modifications to the Carb and I am not sure if that would make any difference.
5. I also got to know that my starter does not start the engine in one push and that is again a result of heavier crank that it has to rotate.
6. I also have a decompressor noise at lower rpm and another mechanic said, it is again due to the heavy crank and smaller crank.
Now I am thinking of replacing my heavier crank with the regular 350cc crank to get my bull work the way it was earlier...
Experts here can help me with suggestions of the block piston modifications...
Thanks & Regards,
Rahul K

Re: Can crankshaft be changed to heavier one in the Royal Enfield UCE Bullet
I am looking to do similar to my RE Electra 2017. Why I want a heavier crank. Any person who has used older bike (Older than 2010), will not like these light crank bikes. You must ride both bikes (Standard and Classic/Electra) in city to find the difference. You need to shift to lower gears a lot more and keep clutch pressed. I have talked to my friend who was a mechanic at RE agency. All I am waiting for a RE Standard bike that needs a Crankshaft repair so that I can try it in my Electra. If it fits and works, I am gonna keep it and buy him a new one. If anyone else does this before me, please let me know.

Which RE do you have? Which year? You have not mentioned it.
