      Nice topic.

4Stroke: Intake, Compression, Power, Exhaust. Very basic stuff as some knowledgeable people like Joel and Torqu3e would say. How to tweak those is not my game. It is theirs. And I watch that with awe. Though I would like to know basic stuff and feel what comes out of the engine translated into rubber on tarmac! I like to feel the final product. But some basic knowledge I feel is necessary.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

I feel it's very important to know basics of your bike...It helps you some or the other time for sure!!...

I am always open to learning( not in college or school studies but about bikes and cars only)...I read about them on various sites, engg books and auto mags but it's sometimes very confusing!!..Some things just go past my head without even a hint what i had read?..
I am thinking to join any mechanic or workshop on weekends because there's nothing better than practical knowledge but because of my laid-back attitude the plan is still on hold!!!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

When I was in school part of our teaching was strait from how stuff works, and I still go back to it when in doubt. Some of the simple animated diagrams are incredible.

know the basics of four stroke engine and even can find the faults but still not able to fix them due to lack of practical knowledge...but somehow learnt to adjust timing, valve clearance and can work on top portion like head and bore but bottom engine i havent touched it though..
