I feel that this thread can be made a common thread for all bikes, since most of the pointers in the checklist would be identical. Owners can then add/subtract pointers w.r.t their bikes. So, let me know. I can rename the thread for all bikes in that case.

P.S - I have moved this as a new thread, but in case if anyone finds a similar thread, do let me/mods know.

My check list for paid service:
1. Visual inspection of the bike before service. Cracks in plastic, nuts, bolts etc.
2. No wash/lube/wax/polish etc for me. SVCs do a very shoddy job at that. Also the so called teflon coating is a scam. I do it myself. Detailing, that is!
3. Keep tab on consumables - oil, pads, filter, plug etc. No cleaning stuff for me, replace when the time comes.
4. Coolant top up.
5. Brake lines bleeding if sponginess occurs. No brake oil top up for me.
6. Check if all fuses are present after service. (They replaced one from mine

)
7. Visual inspection post service.

ODO is 7.2K in last 14 months. All 3 free service done. In last 3 free servicing, only engine oil, filter change has been done, with some minor rear wheel axle adjustment and all. Last time when I visited SVC for a wash and lube, they reported some swing arms checkups and adjustment might be required, but I didn't understand exactly what was the issue, as I didn't feel any problem. I told no need to do anything apart from wash and lube. Could you guys put some lights on these too ?

my list goes for a paid service :

washing : NO. local guy for 40-50 bucks will do a better detailed wash.
chain cleaning /lube/ adjustment : just ask for chain adjustment , clean yourself with diesel and toothbrush yourself , lube after coming home yourself. save 150 bucks.
spark plug : check and replace is 20k done. if no issues dont touch it.
coneset : check if loose/tight get it fixed.
shims : if noisy get it checked else dont touch until 25k minimum
clutch : if loose get it tightened
brake fluid : if more than 1.5 year/ 15k done. put it new fluid.
brake pads : dont mention specifically in job card. they will charge another 200 bucks. when the mech is working. tell him the brake are not biting like before. he will pull out the pads
and scrub them. you are good.
coolant : you wont need a top up until 20k. post that drain the old one. run distilled water and get it washed inside and then fill complete new one.
lights : check all the lights are functional.
panels : anything loose/broken/noisy.
engine oil & oil filter : oil every 6k + oil filter every 12k post 1st service.

engine oil : 1.4 L without filter
engine oil + filter : 1.5 L
engine rebuild : 1.8 L

air filter : every 12k /alternate service.
injector : get it cleaned else start using system G.

i guess this should do it for general paid service.

After 7.2K in last 14 months I don't feel much unsmoothness in my CBR. Engine oil was changed 5K ago, when I consulted with CBR mechanic here in Kolkata, he said in this climate max interval of changing should be 3.8K. Though xBhp members reported of 5 or 5.5K mark for the same. Yeah this is true that temperature in Kolkata is bit higher than Banglore / Hyderbad. Might be that is the reason why mechanic was telling to change the oil sooner, but I'm yet to be confirmed the same from other SVC mechanic.

Regarding air filter, I read on some forum that they change on 1st service or 2nd, and then change it after a 8K or so. Here in Kolkata, we ride in lot of dust, so will it be okay to stick to 12K limit, and moreover I have never change it after buying the bike.

Last but not least, at the time of hard breaking with front break I feel some front wheel wobbling. Is it common in ABS model (due to ABS mechanism of stopping a wheel) or Contigo tyre issue ?

i would love to talk to that mechanic for sure....

brother engines are weather sealed. and when a engine runs its always hot.. its irrelevant of what the outside climate is. i am from rajasthan and i am sure its the hottest in India. if we can follow the same service schedule on air cooled bikes forget bout liquid cooled ones then why not in kolkata. and you know what ? the drain interval in US CBR is 12,000 km.. they already made it 6k for us. if engine oil was to be so prone to weather change then people in assam will be running be busted engines due to heavy rainfall and moisture seeping in and the mineral oil getting rot...

dont believe the mech.. trust the owners manual.. mechs are nut jobs.. they'd say what they think it should be or could be and not what it is..

air filter. i changed at 6k interval and i also tried changing at 12k interval. no difference found. hence sticking to 12k. company does a lot of R&D before making a claim of 12k. i am sure we aren't more knowledgeable about the product they made.

I'm feeling we are lucky to spend very less amount in terms of engine oil changing

. As oil / air cooled bikes (FZ, Pulsur) need to change the engine oil at an interval of ~2K.

BTW does all liquid cooled bike has an interval of engine oil change similar ? What is the interval of Ninja 250 / 300. Anyone ?

agreed. but the oil cost is also 300 bucks at max as they use mineral oil... what do i say you about my bull.. service every 2500 km with 2.5 L oil (engine oil + gear oil+ clutch oil+ grease)

2000 bucks service that too local mech

How do you maintain 5 Bikes (from your signature) ? Where do you park them ?

Any bike that uses Fully Synth oils will have 5-6k km intervals for oil change. Bikes on mineral and semi synth will have <3k kms intervals.
N300 has 6k kms interval AFAIK.

Irrespective of engine type, the drain interval solely depends upon what Engine Oil you use.

2 bikes (cbr & bull)+ Activa + car - with me in hyd now
2 bikes (cbz & rx) + moms Activa + my old priya + luna tfr + kinectic honda - with mom at home in jaipur
