The 200 HP Slugfest is on in full swing!!!
The EICMA saw the unveiling of the 200+ hp beasts by several top Marques.Kawasaki first broke the barrier in 2011 with the 210 HP zx10r production bike which was available for all unlike the super exclusive 200 hp DesmosediciRR .The new H2 which replaces it is supercharged and produces 207 HP???? Is that a reduction of numbers on paper or did the 2011 zx10r not really have the claimed output??This time around, we have the 200 HP R1, the 201 HP RSV4RR, the 207 HP H2, the 205 HP 1299 Panigale and Honda's RC 213V-S which is also expected to have a similar output. BMW stopped just shy with the new 199 HP S1000rr. Which other beasts can we expect in this category and is 200 HP really required for a streetgoing superbike?? I want to know what my fellow XBHPians have to say about this.

Its a never ending war of BHP, looks like 200HP has become a standard now, as I am a inline four machine lover, I really would like to see what Suzuki brings on the table

Agreed. Too many players now in the 200 HP club. Strange thing is the whole lot graduated from 190 HP to 200 in around 4-5 years time, which may be assumed that this club is gonna stay for sometime now. I just wanted the Beemer to be in this club but I guess they have sorted it out with their superb electronics.Yamaha YZF R15 V 2.0 (Oct, 2012 - Present)

Re: The 200 HP Slugfest is on in full swing!!!
200hp and more. That was the motto for almost every company for their flagship bike this year. Getting some 10-15hp more from the same 998cc I4 engines must have been a tough task and all succeeded and have shown their success with all the glamour.
But the question of whether such power is needed for a street bike or not, is simple, nowhere can a person use such power on public roads. Heck even the older models break legal speeds in first gear, we can only imagine what there super beasts would do. For the tracks, these are the best money can buy.
Ride safe and have fun.

Nadeem
