Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
Topic Closed. I think it can be a disputed topic...
No, Daytona kit equipped R15 will not match RC's overall performance.
RC 200 does not only have 50 more cc's, but it also has a short stroke motor, which gives it the top end power it has.
RC even has shorter stroke value than R15 has (49mm vs 58.7mm). Theoretically, it means higher revving and more power.
25 bhp is almost an unrealistic modification target for R15. RC achieves 25~ bhp at 10,000 rpm. At 10,000 rpm, R15 is edging its safety limits in terms of piston speed, which is a factor of stroke (piston travel). Its highly unlikely that most R15s in this country will ever touch 25 bhp. You're talking about almost a 50% gain.
However, if you're thinking that your R15 should get "reasonably faster", then yes, it will get faster by using Daytona kit, which combined with a low weight, should make it a peppy ride overall.
On the street level, I would suggest you don't go for Daytona kit. See, you will gain more power. But the bike's noise will go through the roof. Even 5000 rpm riding will be noisy.
On a peaky motorcycle like r15, you might just be left with a choice:- raising too much noise or puttering at joke speeds with less torque.
Daytona kit's focus is not to improve low rpm torque and rideability, and even if it does, it won't be enough to offset the already peaky nature of R15.
Oh and a word of advice: Avoid any "tuners" who claim to do wonders on your bike. I'm talking from my experience and age, which at 29 is not too much, but you'll do much better without them.
As for personal experiences with Daytona, please check the Yamaha R15 ownership threads for it:
