Hello there, As the Moderator has suggested, Please read the relevant thread already. You take care of Your new Bike both mechanically and Cosmetically, and I am sure you will cherish the ownership experience. Since you park under the sun, if possible use a canvas bike cover (I got one custom made from old denim). Use this in the office parking ( Don't mind what others have got to say - This will go a long way to keep the UV rays from causing damage to the Paint and chrome).

Buy a Can of WD-40 To keep rust at bay. A Big tin of Waxpol Car wax, Tire Foam/Cleaner and Tyre shine. Atleast 3-4 Microfibre mittens/cloth pieces. Car shampoo. I recently saw a chrome cleaner in the hardware stores for cleaning the salt deposits on shower and tap fixtures, This should be quite suitable for cleaning chrome.

The fool-proof method of checking if the bike needs a Wax coat is to spray water with a spray bottle and see if the water forms perfect droplets ( similar to how water bead on the lotus leaf). A perfect wax job would need a clean surface to start with. I used to clean and wax my Beloved bullet like a mad man every second weekend, which used to take about 3-4 hours in total. Other than the Silencer Bend pipe, you can safely wax all chrome parts.
