Re: Do ALL bike's engine need reboring after 50k kms?

Please do a compression test before rushing to rebore or block change. Most of the time the white smoke from the exhaust can be arrested with a ring and valve oil seal change. Unless you have serious blow by and radical drop in compression, reboring or block change is not required.

Re: Do ALL bike's engine need reboring after 50k kms?

Regarding run in, its more about the feel of the bike rather than a particular rpm or speed, as a rule of thumb, i take the bike to 50% of the available rpm in the first 500 kms after a rebore, if the engine feels free at 500kms, then i start giving a bit of load on it by varrying the rpm and pulling uphil. However, if the engine DoesNOT feel free at 500kms, then something went wrong with the clearance while reboring. So I give a bit more time. Most of the time the clearance is kept a bit too tight and it takes about1000-1500 kms to become fully functional.

Thank you all for guidance. I wasn't doing 40 kmph but was restricting bike to 4k rpm. Wanted to confirm if I was doing anything wrong. Also was dubious that how much rpm limit should be set after 500 kms mark and up to what kms range.

Hai.. Friends..am here to ask help for my pulsar 180 ug4-2010 model. Basically same engine like pulsar 200 without kicker.current odo reading-96,000 kms.coming to the point, it feels like time for a piston change. What about going for a p-200 cylinder piston kit. Is it a direct fit. Also heard like 220 cam shaft is good in 180. Need all ur suggestion here as soon as possible.
                Thank you...
