Hero Maestro for Touring
Hello my xBhp family. I am Sagar Desai from Mumbai I own a Hero Maestro from past 3 and half years. I am an avid reader of xBhp articles and always admire the love of touring on bikes and I wish to do it soon so I wanted to know can this be possible on scooter? I mean most of the tourer own a RE so has anyone tried it on scooters? Let me know.Tags: None

Re: Hero Maestro for Touring
GBD Approved!
Yes it can be done. But it doesn't mean it should be done. Gearless scoots are meant to be ridden in city traffic and to make commutes easier. They're tuned for that! Highways would mean higher speeds (sustained) and more stress on the engine. And again, with small wheels they won't be very stable.
Small tank is another concern.
But we have a member on our forum (Mr Narender) who takes geared as well as gearless scoots to Himalayas.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 01-04-2016, 12:36 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Maestro for Touring
You can definitely do it, but you have to stop every 70-80 Kms or so for the engine to cool down. More over as Divya said, the no of Fuel filling stops would be more.
In have done around 250 kms in a day on my Jupiter. My brother once did 350 kms. He had to stop twice to fill petrol as riding at speeds above 60-70 kmph constantly, brings the milege down to 40-45 kmpl.
I would say, a 100CC bike will be more apt here. Larger Wheel, more comfort, Better brakes.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Good one. H2O is a liquid, H2OToo (read H2O2) is a liquid. [emoji14]Originally posted by Bibhu View PostH2o is a liquid. H2so4 is also a liquid.

Re: Hero Maestro for Touring
As already stated, scooters are not ideal for long rides. The seating ergonomics of a scooter also doesn't aid long rides. Apart from frequent fueling stops, ample time is to be given to the engine at regular intervals which defeats the very purpose of touring. You can go ~ 100 kms. on a scooter - but anything more than that, I'd personally not recommend.
Better, go for a low capacity bike(below 150cc). Will serve your purpose. We have people doing Ladakh on a Platina here. Or a cross-country on a Star City.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
