Re: Adventure Bikes seat height
Thread Approved
The Ground Clearance needs to be decent to ride on bad terrain. As a result every part of the bike is pushed higher up, including the seat height.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Re: Adventure Bikes seat height
In short, for Adv Tourers with a more off-road bias, the seat height is more due to; 21" wheels, longer travel suspension, steeper front geometry, and ground clearance (assuming engine config, etc remains the same). But there are always exceptions; For example Multistrada 1200s is available from 825-845mm seat height options. for the lower seat height there will obviously be compromises in susp travel, seat cushioning etc. I saw that in 2016 Triumph Explorer 1200, there is a special low seat height variant available in only top of the line XCA and XRA models that have a different frame.
IN RE Himalayan, compared to Classic 500's, they have managed to keep same seat height as 800mm, while giving 21" tyres and longer suspension and compared to C500, the GC increased form 135mm to 220mm. For keeping same seat height, they have considered a multi-link rear suspension and a smaller engine. But due to OHC and 9.5:1 compression ratio, real world performance should be better than old school C500 engine.Last edited by deejayrox; 03-07-2016, 03:16 PM.
