  • Balaclava & Helmets

    Hey guys,

I own a MT Raceline helmet. And a spartan balaclava. My helmet is snug fit as mentioned on Xbhp threads on how it should be. Here are the problems I am facing while wearing them.

    1) What is the exact method to wear balaclava? Is it simply pull over your head, or do you need to put it on like socks? The problem I face is, when I wear it top to down and adjust it, my hairs jump out through the open-eye part of the balaclava. Then I need to put all of them back in using fingers. Is there a correct way to wear it so that it doesn't happen and the balaclava directly sits correctly?

    2) And then when I wear the helmet, the entire balaclava gets out of place. Similarly while removing the helmet, balaclava also comes half way out along with the helmet. Is there a way to put and remove helmet while wearing a balaclava?

I know this may questions may seem absurd and absolutely funny. But what I intended to know is, are there others who are facing similar kind of problems and does anyone have a trick up their sleeves(riding jacket's ) to solve/help with this.

Note to admin: I am not sure if this is the correct section to post the query. If not, please reallocate to the proper one. Thanks.

        Re: Balaclava & Helmets

I too own a mt helmet and use the same balaclava.
The balaclava getting out of place while wearing helmet is mainly due to the chin curtain which pulls down the balaclava..

The way around this is to wear your helmet halfway, till the chin curtain reaches your nose, and then with your finger, push the dust filter of the balaclava past the chin curtain. Now you can pull the helmet down without displacing the balaclava.

Similarly, while removing the helmet, first lift the chin curtain past the dust filter of the balaclava and then remove your helmet.

Hope you understood the description. 😝
