  • Motorcycle booking cancellation

    Hi.

I am based in Chennai. Couple of months back I had booked for an aprilia sr150 and about three weeks I made full payment. About a week back I came to know of my transfer to Bangalore and I decided to cancel my booking. When I contacted the showroom guys they are saying they have made e-payment and all formalities are done, scooter has been assigned and I cannot cancel my booking. I have not yet signed on the form 20 though. They are telling me I have to get the scooter and sell it if I don't need it.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? What do you guys suggest i should do?

    Topic Approved.

Maybe you need to pressurise them a bit? They could be right, but as far as I've known, European manufacturers do work on credit. So, see what you can do about it...
I'm sure you know the position between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, so keep that in mind if you get the scooter anyhow and ride it to Bengalore.

One more idea, is that you tell them to sell it to the next customer who approaches them for this scooter in this color option. You might have to sacrifice some meagre amount (Rs. 1000-2000) so that the new customer falls in for your scooter.
This way, maybe the showroom people will oblige you, because its possible before the RTO registration, if finance is not involved.

      When is the delivery date?

Did u buy the bike on Finance or did you pay cash/cheque upfront?

It's not that they can't cancel the order it's that they don't want to.

Of course they aren't really obligated to return your money as that's not how a profitable business is run.

It all comes down to customer service. But, if you want to force their hand, there are a few things you can do.

Speak to an employee of the record. And ask them to "find" you a customer.
It's possible to allocate your bike to a new customer for a nominal fee.
A couple of thousand perhaps. It's the least you can do considering the fact that you've got very little wiggle room to bargain terms.

The bike hasn't been registered with the RTO yet. So it all depends on how smooth you can be with the employee that you choose to speak with.

I've done this for a friend who had to cancel his Z800 order. The employee ended up being very understanding and handled the situation well.
Your situation is easier... There's virtually no employee at a showroom who won't trade a scooter order for 2000/3000 rupees.

Yeah. I know of the situation that's why I want to cancel it.

They are saying the vehicle has been assigned on my name and they have already paid some rto charges and other stuff which amounts to 15k. Now if they have to transfer it to other it has to be like a second hand vehicle.
I don't know how all this could happen without me signing on the firm 20.
