  • Purchasing a scooter from Authorized dealership VS local multi brand dealership

When we get ourselves a new vehicle we are all exited and puzzled as to where to buy the vehicle from.

I enquired in Mumbai OTR was quoted 71.6k by the authorized dealership for disk break version of new access with no accessories, and when asked the local dealer he quoted 69k with all sorts of accessories so the total difference if I buy all the accessories came to 4k. Can anyone shed some light on it? Is it ohk to buy from local multi-brand dealership?

    1) Does it effect the warranty in any sort?

    2) Quality of the vehicles

    3) kms driven before delivery

    4) Does any of the dealership's help with the warranty claims?

    5) Choice to select the vehicles from the lot.

Searched a lot on the internet but didn't find any thread or any articles which can shed some light on this question. I am sure many members must have had there experience about it. Please share your experience so people like me can get an idea as to where we can purchase our vehicles from.

i have never seen a multi-brand dealership here. Volumes are too high in India for someone to bother with a multi-brand. One scooter you saw in Mumbai, the other scooter was in Mumbai itself or in some other city?
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Mumbai only it's sort of dealer which sells all brands. U can call them unauthorized also I don't know what to call them😂 so just gave a name multi-brand as they sell all brands have 4-5 such showrooms near my area.
And yes volumes are soo high all bikes are parked touching each other almost and I went to enquire but the people seams to be least bothered so I am in mixed mind what to do?

Lots of such dealerships are opening up. They say they r getting discounts. But don't really understand why company doesn't want to give this discount directly. Also they have ready delivery available for virtually all the bikes.

Yesss and the price difference is around 5% even with the accessories 😁 . That means the company dealership are getting a huge cut.

A couple of my colleagues have got Activa from such a 'multi brand' place. Of course other's experience may differ, but it took them a long time to get it registered with the RTO. The strange thing is that the owner book had a stamp of the actual authorised showroom and not the local multi brand one, that's why I don't think there will be warranty issues. So far I have only seen such dealerships in Mumbai. It was also surprising that they had ready stock whereas the actual showroom was talking about a waiting period. They also helped as the guy had less than perfect paperwork when it came to the address proof which the showroom guys were unwilling to do.

Re: Purchasing a scooter from Authorized dealership VS local multi brand dealership

I am planning to by the TVS Apache RTR 200 carb with Pirelli tyres. The "authorized" dealer in south mumbai says there is no production of the pirelli variant while the local multi-brand dealer says that he can deliver the bike on full payment in less than 5 days.

Other than the avaliability, the multi-brand dealer is offering on road price as low as 1.05 lacs while the Authroized dealer says they cant take a penny off 1.12lacs.(it was 1.11 lacs when I called them earlier the same day) The prices include all the standard accessories and extended warranty

The authorized dealer's approach to a customer was not the best. I was not even offered a seat at TVS's Byculla dealership. And this coming from TVS really puts me off. When I went to the multi-brand dealer they were quite welcoming, heck they even asked me what my requirements were to suggestthe best bike. They didnt know I was a fanboy of the Apache.

All things considered, I really want to get the best quality, this experience has me on the mulit-brand dealer's side. Plus I'm saving money!!(for better riding gear ofcourse)

But my paranoid mind thinks its too good of a deal. Anything you guys see that I dont? What say I try other authorized dealers and multi-brand dealers? (Im buying in Jan 2018 so no hurries).

Re: Purchasing a scooter from Authorized dealership VS local multi brand dealership

                Hi,

Its Ok to go with the multi brand dealers as far as i know.

The thing is, when i wanted to book my Hornet in exchange of my Yamaha SS 125, i inquired with 3 Honda showrooms in Mumbai but the response was not good as if they are doing a favor by attending us. Also the price quoted was high. Zero follow up from their side wether you want to buy or not. They literally treat us as if we are doing time pass by inquiring about the vehicles. I almost called one showroom for 4 days within a week as he had assured that he will call the valuation guy to get the price for my yamaha but he stopped answering my calls.

On the other side after being pissed off with the Authorized showroom people, i simply walked into one of the multi brand shop in my locality and booked the hornet. Almost less paper work than the showroom . Got the bike within 20 Days along with all the accessories as provided.

The exchange value given for my Yamaha was also good.

And to my surprise there was a difference of almost 4K on the on road price quoted by showroom and the funniest part is that he got me the bike from the same showroom which was adamant to even answer my calls.
