Re: My rant with Yamaha
I'd like to point out Yamaha's marketing, for fz25 , why sooo much marketing? When you have better bikes with a better price point n performance Yamaha came a few years too late, but come to marketing of the r3 when it released, absolutely 0 , also same with the fz09, has anyone seen a review of that bike in India?! What is the deal, not even 1 review and its been in the market for a year or more , soo mind boggling, but the fz25 which is OK but not great in paper gets soo much media attentionOriginally posted by rachitkdogra View Post

Yeah, they just don't want to spend anything on the marketing.
In case of R3 as well, Yamaha managed R3 very poorly. My friend wanted to test ride the R3. In the entire NCR region there was not even a single dealer who had a test ride bike. We fought with the dealers and then they said, that Yamaha has not given them any test ride bike. Also I heard that they were not even allotting R3s for deliveries. Any dealer wanting an R3 had to sell a specific number of FZs or R15s, then only he could get an R3 for delivery. That dealer seemed furious with Yamaha and said, we could do whatever we want to in terms of complaining to Yamaha. We eventually did get a test ride, but I am 100% sure that it was a customer's bike and it felt really sad to take a test ride on it. Yamaha lost a lot of respect in my heart that day.

Re: My rant with Yamaha
Still I'm confused no marketing for the bigger bikes? Like Honda put out an event for the 650f, honestly its great bike, a tad overpriced by a lakh but that's Hondas reliability and smoothness of the inline 4 you get, Honda actually listened to the potential customers and brought it down , within a year which is impressive , also when I couldn't get a test ride, I wrote to Honda and almost immediately got a response , and got contacted by TD person, I really was impressed by Honda customer service here, same with Yamaha I think they are still stuck in 2007 or 2008 .Now with Kawasaki suffering from their split and benelli's service intervals and cost of spares pushing existing owners to sell their bikes, it makes the best time for Yamaha to bring out the fz07 or tracer 700, but nope just a lack of understanding and interest and they look at it as a huge risk when the number of potential buyers are high.Originally posted by rachitkdogra View PostYeah, they just don't want to spend anything on the marketing.

Re: My rant with Yamaha
While I agree with you that there is not much to zero marketing done by Yamaha for mid-segment bikes, and there is a dearth of mid-segment bikes except for Kawasaki and Truimph (which is way too pricey). But from a business stand point, bringing in such bikes, I am not really sure whether they will make their margin, forget about margin, will they even break even? And yes, though we are moving towards higher cc bikes, but the major population of India is still satisfied with bikes lower than 1L which gives really good mileage, is easy to ride, and lower to nil maintenance. In such a scenario why would they want to release or spend so much money on the mid-segment bikes? Taking a realistic vantage point, I want to put forward a few questions -Originally posted by Deathwing View PostStill I'm confused no marketing for the bigger bikes? 1. Do we really think India as a (whole) country is matured enough to have such bikes?
2. Does it really make sense for the company like Yamaha, Suzuki, or others to put in a chunk of money for marketing?
Yes, Yamaha did put in marketing stuff for the FZ25, but why would they do that? Maybe because the price point is around 1.5L and there are so many bikes in that segment, hence one has got to do it because competitors will do it. Whereas mid-segment bikes? How many TV ads have you seen of Ninja, Benelli or Triumph? I have seen none.
Pls understand, I am not against the opening a mid-segment range, even I would have loved it because I was searching for the same before I got mine this Jan. I am just putting forward my argument for the discussion.
Cheers!

Re: My rant with Yamaha
I sort of agree. Z800 will become Z900 and I expect a price increase there. Street triple is already going to become more expensive. It can be a good time to launch the FZ07 tracer. They should focus on the FZ07 though too. I mean only FZ07 might loose in a very competitive segment. The new Ninja 650 though is going to be a serious contender in this segment in my opinion.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostStill I'm confused no marketing for the bigger bikes? http://www.thehansindia.com/posts/in...-for-RD/141870. Came across this article ... Must have been when benelli launched their line up, I guess it was just speculation after all, for some reason I am being optimistic and still holding on for the mt07 or the tracer 700...

Re: My rant with Yamaha
It is really astonishing to see how yamaha fails to understand their image among the Indian customer. That too after the success of rd350, rx100, r15 modelsOriginally posted by sayanchakraborty89 View PostYamaha marketing strategies has always been poor.
And now, they are focusing on scooters.
They are having trouble focusing the game. They should take more care for the super bike segments.

Re: My rant with Yamaha
As far as I know, Yamaha should be ruling Indian super bike markets, not Kawi, Harley or BMVV s . Even triumph came that late to the party and took the pie away.Originally posted by Ayyachamy View PostIt is really astonishing to see how yamaha fails to understand their image among the Indian customer. I have no idea about what competing with Honda benifits Yamaha. Same applies for the Suzuki as well.Yamaha SZ16R: 2011 - Present.
Tvs Fiero FX: 2009 - 2011.
