  • How do you feel about "owner's responsibility" everywhere

I have searched the forum everywhere but could not find the relevant discussion. Request you mods to please merge into suitable thread if any

I want to put forward a question to the xbhpians about How do you feel about owners Responsibility everywhere? For example at the parking lots, the parking guy comes up and hands you over the parking slip, you pay for that, you read the terms "parking at owners risk".
What if the bike is vandalized/stolen/used for a crime and kept back?
You go to the ASS for service, you read the receipt " all the service and testing carried at owners risk". What if the service guy bangs your bike against someone
Scary! Isn't it? I wonder as a owner should we take all the responsibility? I understand that this is to deter the average person from claiming damages, but what in case of any major issues? Is the owner really responsible?
I can also think of lawyers/ judges having motorcycles/cars and the same type of slips are handed over to them. Why don't they make any noise?
Is there a way xbhpians can deal with this menance? At last we need to protect our skin.

    Regards
    Srinivas

Re: How do you feel about "owner's responsibility" everywhere

Once I had a quarrel with the service manager of TVS Service center that went on to a fist fight almost.

Gave the bike for service. The way they bring up the bike at the time of delivery just makes every biker angry to the core.

Revving the bike up all the way to the redline and handling as rough as possible.
when asking about his handling of bikes, he replied this is not my bike why should i care?

I directly went to the service manager and informed the same to him and the way spoke was like a dumba**

He even started threatening like you cannot complain. I can just seize your Bike's engine right away.

Me and my friend lost our cool started the fight in our own way.
It ended up losing his(service manager) job. Because we recorded everything and sent to TVS.

Because, the amount you pay is not for the security guard. It's against the space allocated to your bike. You just pay the parking charges for the space used by the bike/car. Security is an added bonus which in real life is for free. You indeed park at your own risk.

Use your parking ticket (with entry time) and nearby CCTVs if any to prove yourself.

If the SVC damages your ride, use their insurance. All SVCs have a plan just for those cases and you wouldn't have to pay a thing.
But all other normal maintenence and repairs are aain at your own risk. Say you fit a new tire. Which had a manufacturing defect. Now the SVC/dealership doesn't know about that. But if you meet with an accident, the dealership is clearly out of this. It was at your own risk. But there is a warranty plan just for this.

Come on divya bhai. Do you think things like CC cams can be accessed by a mango man. This is India and the brokers/contractors/local goons are much stronger(I love my country, but this is an ugly fact). They have all type of contacts. If all is well, then fine or else its a very difficult task negotiating dealerships, parking agents etc. BTW the security at parking is useless. They just come to collect parking charges which are getting exorbitant day to day.

Servicing your bike at the FNG is a more risky job as you won't even have a receipt to prove your point if the guy rams somewhere and later the locals get hold of you.

I understand where you're coming from, but it's no different than your apartment parking lot. You pay to buy/rent the house and parking separately.
Yet parking is at your own risk. It's just a service. If needed, you take help of the law. Use whatever sources you can, to aid yourself. It's unfair yes!

Airtel is a service provider. But if my phone was used for some scam, then who will be questioned - me or Airtel? Similar logic here.
