  • Comparing difficulty level in Leh-Ladakh , Gurudongmar , Sandakphu/Phalut riding tours

    Dear Fellow riders ,

There may be someone among you who has done all the three rides . It would be really helpful and interesting to know the comparative difficulty levels and other special features of each ride . I have neither visited Leh-Ladakh nor Gurudongmar . Few years back I travelled on a Landrover to Sandakphu and then trekked to Phalut . Few old British era ,vintage , petrol run , Landrovers ply on this route . The road is not metallic but built with large stones . The journey is bumpy and for those sitting at the back sidewise , painful . I found no motorcycle riders during the entire trip . There are less enthusiatic riders on this route may be because of the constant off road conditions .

So, waiting eagerly to hear your story .

Thank you for the approval , I am not yet conversant with the system here

If not all the three , many have done Leh-Ladakh and Gurudongmar eventhough they are geographically, widely separated . Let me and others read the story from you . In the meantime , I am attaching a photo of my trek to Phalut from Sandakphu few years back when I was posted in Darjeeling . May be this will enthuse you for a riding trip to Sandakphu .

Although Muktinath is a beautiful place , I am not sure if the riding difficulty can be compared with the other three . I would welcome you and any other with writing , please include information on the comparative difficulty level or any uniqueness of the journey .

          Thank you.

            Not comparable means??

Are you saying Muktinath is difficult than the other two

            or

            easier than the other two?

Leh-Ladakh has a lot of variation: Kardhungla, Manali-Leh highway, Leh to Pangong via Chang La, Nubra to Pangong vi Wari La, Nubra to Pangong vi Shyok, Pangong to Chulshul to Hanle to Tso Mori to Tso Kar
On the other hand Gurudongmar is a straight road (not easy in any way) from Lachen.

              The two can't be compared.

              What's your purpose of comparing?

Friends , its not a debate on which is more difficult or what is the purpose . The information may be in the form of a story, enjoyable to read and of significance to any rider who has not gone there . If they are not comparable , is itself a point to write on .
