  • TVS XL Build

Heyy everyone , this is my first post on xBhp , so I'm sorry for any imperfections.
This is about a project bike , my friends and I worked on. It's a TVS XL modified to a pocket bike / track bike for kids.

    TVS XL Heavy Duty
70cc two stroke single cylinder engine
    3.5 bhp @ 5,000 rpm
    5.0 NM of torque @ 3750 rpm

We wanted to make it as light as possible and get the most out of the engine , so started by taking apart everything. Headlights , indicators , side panels , saree guard , crash guard , pillion footrest , pillion seat , chain guard etc were removed.
After stripping everything , we spray painted the frame in black and tank in flourescent green.
The tank was mounted straight by welding a metal pipe in between the frame.
The handlebar was replaced with the FZ's , but inverted to get a more aggressive posture.
The stock footrest was removed and bullet's footrest was welded and fixed further back to make it like a rear set.
So the stock seat was removed and a flat style seat with a hump was designed to avoid the rider from sliding off.
Stock exhaust was heavy and too quiet , so we opted for a simple bottle exhaust. It made sure that the exhaust doesn't scrap while cornering on the right side. Also it made the bike lighter and a bit more louder. The exhaust was welded to the stock bendpipe.
No performance upgrades to the engine as of now , the carburettor is tuned for better acceleration.
Front forks and the rear suspension is stock , but we've plans to swap the front forks to a Max 100 and install a disc brake setup giving it more stability and better braking.
So the stock tyres are crappy , cannot be used to ride on the track as they have pathetic grip. We got it changed to Ceat Secura Sport , the only kind of radial tyres in the market for this specific bike. After some tests , they provide good grip hold up pretty well.
As we removed the instrument cluster , we had to bypass it to an on/off switch to control the ignition.
Engine oil , brake shoes , throttle and brake cables , spark plug were changed during the build.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
Happy and safe riding , cheers. [emoji16]
