  • Future of Yamaha RX series

As govt. is planning to shut down doors for 15 years old vehicles, what is the fate of the great RX series bike. It is becoming increasingly difficult to ride on Yamaha RX as traffic police troubles a lot. Should we dump all these much loved two strokers or is there any way out for this concern?

Topic Approved, since its a topic with relevance to the present times.

Surely, that white smoke & scent doesn't go unnoticed when you pass by cops.

One choice is that you move to small cities with lesser regulations. In my city for example, RX are still not purused that much. Our tempos pollute lot more.

Another choice is that you modify and use it as a pure off road/ competition bike, for closed/ private areas, away from public roads...

And the final choice is the most painful one, sell it.

I'll let other members from big cities guide us, on what is the best way to proceed from here...

What do you mean by traffic police troubles you? Sorry, I didn't get your point. Could you please be specific.

I ride to work on my 1986 RX100 in Bengaluru on Outer Ring Road and pass by two police gangs who stop all sorts of two-wheelers but I haven't yet been stopped even once.

As far as I can rememeber Govt is only proposing to scrap Commercial Vehicles that are 15 year old. Till now its just been talk.

Nothing on privately owned vehicles as far as I know.

depends on state to state. the situation is very different in delhi/ncr, any type of petrol/diesel vehicle over 15yr old is to be scrapped. in fact 10 yr for diesels.. i know someone trying to sell off their 10yr old diesel car in another state because it isn't allowed to ply in ncr.

you can keep them on private premises and maybe sneak out a ride once in a while. Legally not permitted to park or ply on public roads.
