    Re: Kawasaki Vulcan.. Finally :-)

Dear Proud owners of Vulcans, First of all, Hearty congratulations to each and everyone of you for owning this beautiful machine. I would request some suggestions from you all. I am planning to buy Vulcan S as well. Here are my questions.

I have Honda Unicorn which I use for daily commute to work. I live in Bangalore and travel 60kms from Banashankari to ITPL everyday two way. Can Vulcan be a best bet. Or would it be better to have Unicorn for office commute and Vulcan for Weekend drives.

What accessories, you guys suggest, should be installed immediately.?

My daughter and wife will accompany me to short rides with in city, may be once in a while to Malleshwaram. Is the rear seat comfortable enough for both the pillions, since this is kind of split seat if I am not wrong. Or does it required to be changed.

Got some free time during working hours. So planning to go to Langford road showroom to test drive one. So please advise

Hey Sridhar thanks a lot for your wishes. :-)

It's been over 6 months now am riding this bike. Clocked roughly 5k kms... Not much of long rides done so far except for 250 kms approx in a single day.. some odd 3 times..

Twice or thrice a week I commute to office, roughly 35kms to n fro per day.

It's my 1st super bike. Earlier I owned R15. Rode it for almost 10 years. Miss it ... But glad to have this new super Beast. It's a highway bike.. take it on open roads and this just glides smoothly. You can easily touch 130-135.. no vibrations..I did this with pillion.

Given the bulky engine, the heat it generates is tremendous when you are riding in heavy traffic. I stay in Mumbai and you must have heard of the traffic woes here.!! Hence you need to ensure that your legs are covered. While on non traffic day you don't feel the engine heat.

Also, please consider the bike's weight.
Depending on the traffic condition you can decide. I personally feel a light weight motorcycle of 150 cc should be used for daily office commuting. Vulcan can be considered for weekend. Still this depends on the rider.

You also need to consider the ground clearance..its 130 mm .. you have to carefully ride on speed breakers.. yes ...while riding single.. while along with pillion double the care.. you have to accept this mentally that how much so you take care you gonna bump into the speed breakers.. that's a given. Some have installed after market exhaust, which have given them a benefit of additional 10 mm clearance.

As you have said you shall be riding a/w your wife n daughter, seating will be a problem, as the rear seat is lifted up. It will be difficult to accommodate your daughter between the rider and pillion.

Get a backrest installed for sure. Its required when you ride with pillion. You can tell the kawa people to remove the saree guard and provide you with backrest with no additional cost. This option was available in Mumbai (I got to Know after I bought the bike). I purchased my backrest with luggage rack from AliExpress. (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bsy9awpi )

I have also installed the led auxl lights of gold runway 40w.. you may install if you prefer night riding. I installed them thru Kawasaki dealer for 16k.

I am planning to install radiator guard .. still under finalisation.

If you go though the thread one of our brothers has got the backrest, radiator guard from "dochaki customs".. just Google it out.

I am enjoying riding the bike and plan to increase the ride length in coming days. You too will definitely enjoy riding it.

BTW which color are you planning to buy.. do let us know. I have a Pearl lava orange.

      Cheers:-)

Forgot to mention I have also installed the engine crash guards from Kawasaki itself ... it's a must.. I had a close call twice while turning it at short angles in parking lots on paver block..As the tires were new.. got slipped..

          Re: Kawasaki Vulcan.. Finally :-)

Thank you y2k@r15 for the detailed information. Appreciate you for taking time to explain.

By the way, I went to the showroom, test rode Vulcan, found it to be a great bike for me. Ease of driving, power and torque left me mesmerized. After hearing it's on-road price of 7.2L, I had to step back. Now I need to work out my finances to make a decision.

I liked orange one a lot. I was thinking that I will book the green one. But unfortunately it is not available in India. Showroom guys don't have any clue on when it will be launched.

As you had mentioned, it best for highway ride. I better keep my Unicorn for office commute.

No thanks buddy.. i have shared basis my experience.. not very good at writing in literal "ownership reviews" / technical sense.

Hope you finalize a superbike for you very soon and wish you are able to make up with finances as well. Good luck [emoji106]

Though you say, not very good, your information was understandable and gave me a clear picture.

Hope I will be in a better position soon to go and book the bike. Fingers crossed. [emoji4]

My recommendation is to use Vulcan when there’s no bumper to bumper traffic (I.,e when there’s sufficient open road ahead of you). Riding a Vulcan (or any such high capacity bike) in a crawling traffic is a pain. Ride is jerky/choppy under 2000 RPM when you’re in 2nd or 3rd gear. Also, there’s going to be some engine heating.

I have posted the pics of my ‘accessorized’ Vulcan above. I also live close to Banashankari. Feel free to contact me for any information required.

Hey congratulations on the new purchase. How you are enjoying the ride?

Check out the photo of my bike. I have removed the number plate and even cutout the bracket/stay on which it was installed.
Pasted the regn no stickler on the front mudguard.

What else mods have you put apart from the one you mentioned?

i have had the visor affixed as you stated by cutting the number plate stand, but as in himachal hsrp are compulsory so had to have it modified and have the number plates fixed again at the same spot (check pics) apart from them i have also installed aux lights (Comet) costing arount 7800/- and a phone charger (2 usb ports) along cigarette lighter attachment. i am not being able to upload pics
