  • Mandatory ABS rule ?

    Hello all,

Mods : Please move the thread to the appropriate one if there is any. Unfortunately I’m not able to find one. Sorry.

I was thinking like “Non ABS bikes (above 125cc) will not be registered after April 1, 2019” and I thought it was a good move from the government.

But, still I can see Non ABS bikes displayed in the showrooms and also in the websites.

So, whether the mandatory ABS rule has been postponed from April 1 to any other date ?

Every manufacturers’ dealerships have displayed Non ABS bikes like R15S in Yamaha, RTR160 in TVS etc.

Please shed some info if I’m wrong.

(However, I bought RTR200 ABS one last month)

    Thread approved.
According to the rule, all new launches after April 2018 were to have ABS, the existing models were to be upgraded with ABS by April 2019.
Now, the ones you might have seen listed, might just be the remainder of the stock.

Thanks for approving and for your info.

So, they can sell those remainder stock even now?

I thought RTO won’t register a non ABS bike after April 1, 2019.

And also I got an info from local Yamaha dealer as R15S production is stopped, but still it is listed in their site. This was confusing to me.
