    PHYSICAL ROAD MAPS

I've always wanted to plan my routes retro-style. Looking at the large maps laid down on the table and marking the roads for my next ride. But given my lack of time and knowledge and the presence of Google Maps, I've never done it and probably never will. But these past few months, I've wanted to get one of those Road Maps and mark the roads I've travelled on and the places I've visited. Also should anything happen to my phone during the ride, these maps may be a life savior.

I have tried searching Google for Images that I can download and print on an A0 sized sheet but either the resolution is not high enough or the map is inaccurate. Also certain online stores like Indiamapstore are charging Rs.3000-5000/state for such a downloadable image, which in my opinion is too much.

It doesn't have to be the floor map exactly, atlases will do too...
Does anyone use these maps or atlases? Do you know where I can find them, either offline or online? It would be a dream come true, if I can get my hands on one of these maps.

If anyone opens this thread later, I have also found a publisher who publishes road guides with enormous maps of the specific state/region/city.(the entire thing costs only ₹150)
They're called prism publishers and they have branches hete in Chennai and Bangalore.
Adding pictures for reference.Click image for larger version

          Re: Physical Road Maps

As far as I know, there are several companies that publish road atlases for India. What I'd really like to see is for the Survey of India to publish 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 topographical maps of India, so all the backroads and so on can be followed. Last I checked, they don't publish anything with a resolution smaller than 1:250,000 for public consumption, and nothing of the coastline, due to some antiquated statute that supposedly makes the coastline a National Secret, even though you can get Google Maps satellite imagery of the entire coastline with a level of detail down to less than a meter including military installations and Naval yards, that is usually no more than a year or so out of date (unlike maps which often don't get updated for many years). It's long past time for the SoI to modernize and start providing useful products to the taxpayers who subsidize it.
