  • Bike engine breaking

    Hi all,
I have bought new Apache RTR 200 4v BS6 last week. I have done around 200 km. I am trying to ride it between 50-60 km/h.

But some of my friends push it to 80-85 km/h. They argue that new bikes are already refined and don't need engine breaking like the earlier bikes.

Is it right? What's the ideal speed I should ride before 1st, 2nd and 3rd service?

Bro,you must have got owners manual, please read it.everything is mentioned in it,regarding your breakin period,at what speed,on what gears you need to ride.

Its better to follow owners manual as per breakin period.may be once or twice you can cross 50 kmph, but mostly keep it upto 4500 rpm.

You most not ride at a constant speed, change your gears frequently.as it will help the engine bed in.dont stress your bike too much.keep varying your rpm metre, while driving.dont go for long rides say as 70 to 80 kms on single run.

After 1000 kms you can increase speed to 6000 rpm.

Ride safe.follow the rules.wear your protective gear.happy riding

Don't baby the bike like its made of cardboard, but don't thrash it as well.
You are riding it well between 50-60 kmph which is good, short bursts till 80 will be good for the engine as well.
Briskly accelerate till 80 kmph, hold it for a few seconds then come back down to 60.

The idea of run in; is to let the engine run on all rpms on all gears, so that the engine become accustomed to all RPMs and gets bedded in properly.
Congrats on the new ride and happy mile munching.
        Ride safe.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
