    1. why do people who buy supersport bikes sell them within a 2 -3 yrs?

    2. how much will it cost to maintain a superbike for 5 yrs ?

    3. what's the highest odo k's you have seen in a superbike?

    Topic Approved.

    1. No specific one reason. Maybe they get a trade in benefit. It could also be maybe they're bored, and want a change, or maybe they get the wrong category the first time. I've seen some guys getting peaky 600cc sportsbikes, only to end up with a naked or half faired torquey bike later on for practicality reasons.
Of course, getting a 600cc inline 4 sports bike and using it to ply at 30 kmph city traffic is ok for short term, but in long term, its just destroying the vehicle's clutch plates and engine.

Don't worry, people changing sbk's has got nothing related to the life of the vehicle itself. Most Japanese vehicles are doing well in terms of life. And even others.

    2. In 5 years, we're looking at approx. 40,000 kms (but this differs from person to person and city to city, ok?) which means we're looking at about 4-8 services (Rs. 50k-60k or so), 2 tyres changes (Rs. 50,000~).
Fuel will be around 4-5 times of the 40k running, so Rs. 1.5-2 Lakh or so (accounting for future inflation as well).

All this adds to something around Rs. 3 Lakh or so. Which is about 10-20% of the vehicle's cost, which is good.
(Good because a 100cc will consume around 70-80% of its on road price in maintenance, most of which would be fuel.)

If you use high mileage tyres on your Sbk, and maintain & use her well, you could probably cut on this figure by a good margin, maybe ending up with around 2L overall expense.

    3. The best I've seen in person is around 40k, and it was no Sbk, it was a BMW G-series. The 2007-08 Indian R1's I've heard have done above 50k now.
