    ^^excuse the typo

but acc to me [and u can call one-track minded], since the RD i have not seen one decent bike on the Indian roads, yes i havn't and i still ain't seein one, not even a frickin semblance of it. so now i have reached a point beyond impatience call it hopelessness, untill some Manufacturer brings out somethin with over 300cc and 25+ bhp i will have to continue saving for the SBK i have always wanted.

Guys, big bikes can come via CKD, at right prices, if we form a cartel together ... Unite for one particular bike and demand it, in front of the Media!

Then, the companies will notice. Show them a big customer group, then they'll take action!
Cribbing will be useful, only if we get OPEN with it. Doing so on forums gives nothing!

But, there are 2 big problems here:-->

      1. The members from big cities should take up this as an initiative. Open a New Thread and discuss how to pass this message to Media & Government.

      2. You HAVE TO decide on a particular bike you expect. Different choices won't do. For example, make that FZ6 - the HALF-FAIRED one, for everyone involved in it.

It is my sincere request to the members from Metros to accumulate and plan this thing, and then work out on how we can spread the message.

We know the Media, they hunt down and spread any news. Nobody is going to give you your right, decorated in a silver plate. Demand for it! Demand it the media way!

Please read my message completely and reply back ... especially members from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai. Kolkata and other big cities...

Bike scenario is evolving slowly. Yes, very very slowly. In more than two decades there has been and increase of about 100 cc only in this modern era.
At this rate its going to take a very very long time to reach 1k . Yes, there are superbikes available in the market. But they are only for the few elite .

Cars has been evolving at a much faster rate. Cribbing won't help, but thats the reality.

^^ Did anyone read my earlier post at all?

I was right! Xbhp members can just Crib & Cry in a closed room. They don't have guts to be open... I'm giving a pathway of the effort we can take, and I get no replies...?

and I'm in a damn small city with a 8 Lac Population ...!

              @rahul ..
i have no problem in waiting .. but can you tell me why did we have a max of 225cc for the past 8 years and in order to have a need for speed we have to

              JUMP from 1lakh to 10 lakhs ?

              why cant they just bring a 250 or 400 or 600 ?

if at all we are progressing[agreed ] ..why dont they gradually proceed

the biking market compared to cars will look like this

              NANO[100CC BIKES] < SPARK[225CC BIKES] < MERC SLR [R1]
either you stick you needle to 130kmph[as in spark] or touch 310kmph[merc slr]

              WHERE IS GETZ ? VERNA ? SKODA ? CIVIC ? C CLASS ? BMW 3 /5/7 SERIES ?

^Frustration tapak rahi har word se!

Totally understandable.. .. I'm with you in every word.. unfortunately.. All that I'm looking forward to is the CBR150R, which will give some competition to YAM... I really hope it comes here in the near future.. The only way things can improve here is through competition..
                      1. Those insane taxes n duties should be lessened and import of sub 800cc bikes should finally be allowed by the government..
                      2. For each new class that a manufacturer brings a product into, the other major manufacturers should get their products as fast as they can, only this will FORCE them to better themselves.

But this all is just from a selfish biker's point of view.. from the view of the companies I guess they're just happily sitting 'pretty' (at least one company)..

Mostly people who've posted here have got some things right. Where i would agree with the op is that a million superbikes are not gonna sell in india. it remains a niche market. and sam also is pretty close to the truth in that forming a 'group' and shouting out our demands to the media are only gonna sell more papers and get those crazy news channels more coverage. nothing's gonna come out of it. you think that the manufacturers with all their research experts don't know that there are a lot of bikers out there who want more? of course they do. but why jump to 250/400cc, multi-cylinder engines and reach the limits of their technical expertise quickly when there's money to be made with sticker changes and 20cc upgrades at the max. yamaha brought about a revolution with india's most advanced bike in the r15, bt has now followed the rest of the market with a fairing upgrade at 9k with the fz.

when we look at practicality and usability, and i speak this with my experience of riding both big bikes abroad and my rd in india, what india really needs are decent 250/400cc twin-cyl bikes. with or without digital crap. asking for and expecting thousands of superbikes is pure foolishness. and the ninja 250 is not the solution imo. something like the cb series is what will work on a mass scale. a naked, or semi-faired bike that you and i can ride to work and the market on a daily basis. and take out on long rides on the weekend. basically, what we do now, but with twice the engine capacity and one more cylinder. is that really too much to ask? and while i understand that yamaha had to launch the r15 with 'only' 150cc so that they could really break the market, with all that superb technology it's just crying for one more cylinder. imagine our r15, maybe a tad bigger with all the same specs and a twin 250/300/350cc engine. would we still be cribbing for an sbk then? i don't think so. and the few who really want a litre between their legs still have enough options to choose from.

so, sorry samarth, but while i loathe the atmosphere the manufacturers have created in the market, i would not stand with you in your 'exposure' idea simply because i don't believe it'll work. it's only when the govt. and bike makers decide to stop ripping off the consumer and make REAL bikes for themselves that something good will happen to the industry.

p.s. in case it's not clear, what i'm also trying to say is that simpy increasing engine capacity isn't all that great. we'd just have a big lumbering behemoth with too much reciprocating mass ... never mind. what is very crucial is have two cylinders. or more. a twin cylinder 250 would be much more fun to ride that a 350 single.

But over this period too selling a 1 lac bike itself been a task for them....how do they dream of selling a higher end bike in flourish....

And for information Bajaj is in collaboration with KTM to introduce the bike in the segment better than the ones we have, this belief has only been established after steady sale of Pulsar 220 and R15....

See, if we accumulate our resources and contacts, specially Sunnyji and the moderators, I'm sure we can grab attention ...

Rather than cribbing on a site, we should get open with it. Media has a lot of impact, we know that.

Kindly understand that we are not far off. R15 made it here, Ninja is about too... We just need to grab their attention, so that they'll know what's "happening"... That's all.

No, they don't! Last time, Mr. Atul Gupta said that, there is no market for these bikes.
Somebody ask Mr. Gupta, What is his source of information? Did his staff approach bikers for opinions? Ever??
Or did he get a dream, that there's no market? Sorry for being impolite, but such unprofessional behavior deserves no respect.

I don't see any great benefit with relaxing the 800cc rule. of course, the duties on cbus should be drastically reduced. but importing bikes doesn't make much sense. especially when we have a well established motorcycle manufacturing industry in india. a similar spec'd bike would cost atleast 50% more abroad than in india. add to that the logistics. let's leave duty aside for now. that's why i don't believe that scrapping the 800cc rule will be of any great benefit to the indian consumer. i am all for freedom, yada yada, so the less the rules and restictions, the better though.

again, the best thing for US is if the manufacturers start locally building bikes spec'd like the ones abroad.
