Of course, Odds are there to silent us, but then we still ride! But, one thing is for sure, we can keep our passion alive for atleast 70% of our ages ...

We can change the forms of biking, Ride a Dirt-bike/ Sports bike in 20's & 30's, a Street-bike in 40's, a Cruiser in 50's and then "maybe" my @$$ might demand a Car for 60's ... ""MAYBE""

Isn't that a great plan, provided you get enough cash now and then?

Not really, I am 32 and going crazier for bikes by the day, But by 27 I had bought my zen and the next 4 years or so was obessed with driving, but that had nothing to with age but rather the new car had excited me a lot and after the Rx I had not found a bike that i really liked the P180 handled like crap and the Bullet is not a high revver and I love High revving bikes, The FZs really woke the biker soul in me.

The only thing you need for riding is "Passion" as it overcomes the age barriers.

Ya certainly if there is a genuine passion in you for biking nothing will hold you.. There might be numerous problems like family restrictions, job restrictions, time constraints etc.. but I think an enthusiast will find enough time to re-live his passion

If 'Biker' is to mean only those that have passion for riding motorcycle. This makes only a tiny proportion of the two-wheeler population, especially in India as the vast majority of people on two wheelers just wants them to get from point A to B economically. If we are only talking about this passionate 'Bikers', then yes, there will always be some for whom the biker sould will always be alive.

Its undeniable that, Age brings about change, both in the term of responsibility and in taste. From music to the idea of having fun as well as a sense of responsibility to your family or career. There is a whole lot to the quote that says "Anybody can grow old. Not everyone grows up". Its how we interpret maturity that will defines our passion and one can still be passionate for a long time. The difference is, it will never be the same as it once was.

I wonder what is the average age of the bikers who are replying here. It is easy to say what you are saying and not so easy to execute it. I have seen so many people here and elsewhere not being able to execute even a short tour because of "social" "familial" pressures even being economically, financially independent and having to practically give up biking and bikes.

One major crash, I hope it does not happen to anyone, but they do happen, will change the way you live forever. Not just you, but of the way people, family, society look at you, with that look of "I told you so". I have been biking for more number of years than most of you guys have been living on this planet. Yes, of course, initially it was illegal riding since in those days, the early 80s, there were not too many police checks nor too many vehicles. 28 years of riding and I am still on a motorcycle and I am not tired. Yes, I do get tired doing very long rides in India. That has more to do with roads and traffic conditions than age. Doing a 1000 kms in a day in developped countries is really no big deal!

I do not know whether I will ride forever and all the time. I do not ride all the time. I also drive a car. I love cars too. Keep doing test drives of most new models. But I will keep riding a motorcycle till I am physically able and till it keeps giving me pleasure. The moment something does not give me pleasure anymore, why do it. It is that simple. I will keep biking as long as biking gives me this pleasure.

You have said the right thing! Enjoy it till it gives you pleasure,You dont want to inflict pain upon you.Would you?
Till your body permits you to enjoy the pleasure everytime you ride out on it!
and I cant say anything about "Ghar Sansaar" thing ,So cant comment on it.Biking is just another hobby!Just like I enjoy playing football, philately and other activities.

I hope so too. But a lot of people have said it and later backed out. For "n" reasons.
One day I saw on TV that a 80-85 year old guy did a bungee jump on his Birthday! .So your 'Death' Wish also matters!

                        Cheers!

I am planning to start a store selling magnetic chaddis to small kids that will help them stick to the tank while touring, like tankbag

Jokes aside, I felt the same way. In fact, I know that after the kids come into my life (I am married), there will be hardly any time for biking, and car will be a more sensible and safer tool to travel with family. Currently me and my wife are enjoying biking a lot, but I can't say about the future for sure. Also, currently I can't afford a car due to many other financial responsibilities. So yes, maybe in future, the biker *may* retire for responsibility.

                            a very thought provoking topic.

we all r passionate towards biking. its just that the spark may fade away in most of us.

I call myself a passionate biker, and I would Ride to places then to Driving or Flying there. Am 32+. But I cant say if I will be biking say after 15 years from now. Not because of Health, but for a few other dominant things. I would still have a Good reliable bike parked neatly in the garage which I would take for an occasional ride but for sure I would not be riding daily to my office.

Things definitely change and we change accordingly, the flame may not die, but it will change, for then I will be a rider with lots of time and a little more money.
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Save the Tigers! Only 1411 (excluding ME) are left!

This is my entry in the blogging world!!

Yes, the sole purpose of biking is pleasure in one form or the other. When one stops deriving pleasure and satisfaction from a hobby or even a profession, one does not need to continue it.

Age, physical fitness, Ghar-Sansaar (), every other aspect of life has a bearing on life as a whole and one's habits/likings/hobbies in particular.

P.S. : One serious, though controversial thought : If you believe in Astrology or Palmistry, try and consult a knolwedgeable person in the field. Try ascertain the general life-expectancy of native in question (or biker in question). If the answer is satisfactory (that means one is supposed to live for a reasonably long-life period, i.e., upto 60-65+ years), Go and enjoy biking upto the all possible limits, and I mean limits of all kind. Then even Ghar-sansaar would not be an inhibiting mental baricade for your passion for biking though of course, it would moderate your desires a little bit.

                              Otherwise take your decision accordingly.

P.P.S.: This is my personal opnion. It has no scientific data as a proof.
