i try dipping the headlights but very few drivers switch to low beam.

the very thought of riding through the blind spot(on our side to the road) created by the high beam is scary !

well, you will be surprised to know that a lot of drivers and riders dont know they have a dip switch .
lot of them think that a dip switch is to be used in case if the main /high beam goes kaput. well, I have developed a habit of calling them names, but not that loud, but guess, people will not change so soon!

worst are those who use ultra white/blue HIDs on normal reflectors . Hids should be with projectors only and without them they create so much glare a poor 2wheeler rider cant see anything

i was just thinking of starting a thread advising the member's not to drive with HIGH BEAM.

i get so irritated when these fools drive with high beam...that too in the city!!??

nowadays whenever some one does that while coming the opp. way...i just keep flickering my beam and the they OFF their beam!they dont learn w/o a lesson!
the last day when i was coming back from the airport i had many idiots behind me driving with their HIGH beam even in under the street lights...
what did was,let them overtake and i drove with high beam right behind them!

I have faced this problem whenever I ride on the highways in the night. But it is sad that nothing can be done about this.

i believe that night driving is the ultimate fun as far as just general driving is concerned.but that fun is turned into a nightmare by these idiots driving on high beams..
as far as dipping the light is concerned..some biker or maybe even a car driver will get to low from high if you flood him with dippers..but truck dirvers NEVERRRR
they themselves are sitting 10 feet from the ground and have no problem even if we are at high beam.and if u have ever given notice,truck drivers will themselves down their beam if another truck is coming from the front..maybe some sort of truckers code of conduct.
i drive on one of the worst road i have ever seen,a lot..the landran tangori strech..that road is used by all the trucks to bypass chandigarh to delhi..dat road is barely a one way,that also under construction..and there when u get someone with high beam,u simply have to stop because you cant be sure if there is even road ahead!!
and yes,the so called 'diamond lights',they can be in low or high or any beam for that matter,they make the person in front blind,and in india driving blind for even a second can be a disaster because you cant tell if you will hit a pothole or a dog or some lady running on the road.
the biggest problem i have ever seen is a car or a truck with only the left light on (from car's side),right light dead..and on high beam.u cant tell at all if its a two wheeler or an airplane.
we have the privilege of being in a community and being able to share our views,this we should use to do something about it..just like i had advised adding this thing categorically to the pledge and bringing out general awareness about it..

Its not only the four wheelers who install these hid's on normal reflector's even some install it on there bikes, its said that HID's are only to be installed in projectors, but the damn who cares man all they need is blingggg blinngggg on the road i appreciate those who use there HID's only on low beam in city.

To me these 2 wheeler riders with hid on high beam cause more problem than the cars.

anybody with hid or high beam causes serious problems dude..get me some suggestions as to how we can change this mindset??

If mindset could be changed everybody would be albert einstein's by now by copy paste method ,they need to think about other commuters on road rather than thinking of there blingggg blingggg items on there bike, then we can see some changes, else

But HID's are illegal in India right? Or is it just high beam HID that is illegal?

Whatever, IMO, HID's are not really required, I use an Osram Night Breaker, and I find the light it gives is more than satisfactory.

The best way which i've felt so far for driving at night time is to drive/ride in low beam and occasionally switch between low and high using dipper so that blind spots can also be avoided and at the same time the person coming from opposite side also doesn't have any problem.

What's your take on this guys?

high beams are definately illegal..in chandigarh hid lights are illegal too..
harshit what you are saying is so true..but no one else follows it!!i yourself try so much to do it this way but when the morons in front do not respect you at all you just get frustrated and revert back to old ways..
m just looking for a solution here from the seniors..
