  • My age old beautiful sccoter

Hey friends it was in my mind to start this thread on scooters, as i have my age old horse my dad's old scooter Bajaj Priya. i grew up with my scooter i can say, i use to remember my childhood days when i used to hold my luggage carier stand of my scooter and stand up, sleep on my moms lap when dad use to ride it. Came my teenage days, learnt to drive her when i was not confident of riding a bicycle also, had lot of falls with her but got up again and moved ahead, she taught me how to bear with fatal pains in life, she taught me how to be confident in my life though my parents were not confident of my exam scores but were confident of riding her, waiting for dad in the evening so when he comes from office to take her out for ride after washing her.

Fixing her tyre punctures, saving money for petrol from pocket money so i can buy fuel for her.

Mum used to shout come for food where i was learning to handle her, today years have gone together i have upgraded myself to bikes, have my family but i have still kept my dads ageless beauty in my garage at my home in goa. dad still loves riding her though he has a car. she is already 30+ years old but cares for me the same way she cared when i was a kid standing in front and she used to care for me.

today we have 1500 +cc bikes in front of which she is too small but still she is the best for me.

Its difficult to explain the relation i share with her as people think machines dont have feelings, but i have pride in saying she is my first love and i will keep her with me till i die.

    Topic Moved and Approved.

@shrinathrao: Nicely expressed there. A few pictures of your age old beauty would really be nice.

You are reminding me of my 1st bike-a 2nd hand Kinetic Honda Campus Chill. I really loved that bike, customized it to my requirements&wanted to keep it forever, but I had to let go when Dad told me he would not buy me a geared motorcycle if I don't sell it!

Nice Thread, Please post pics of the beauty. I too will be restoring a '93 Bajaj Sunny next summer, learnt riding on it and obviously moved on to better and faster bikes eventually but this one scoot i somehow cannot part with, its fun, small, and yes Noisy but on the whole just another pocket bike for me. Would require help for the team to make it move a lil faster when im at it.

I have no history at all with any scooter, but i do intend to procure a used Bajaj Priya and make it look like like a Classic Vespa.

I learnt riding on my grandpa's Bajaj Chetak 1988 model. I still use it whenever I give my bike for servicing.

I think most of us have learned riding a two-wheeler on a bajaj super/chetak/priya or may be some of us on a LML. Many may also wolud hae startd on an ungeared one, even i startd with a Kinetic Honda, then my dad's bajaj super, then LML NV and now a 180.

Though we had yezdis, rajdoots n enfields, Bajaj was quite a liked two-wheeler among our fathers ! I miss my dad's bajaj super now.

my dad owned a 1990 model Bajaj Chetak.....it was a wonderful vehicle.....we had toured once from my hometown to a near by place called Thiruparappu on that, I was a lil kid...... I learned to drive in LML Vespa which came to us in 1999, had it till 2005.

agree with u sandeep, scooters are nostalgic

Wonderful thread Srinath.. a big cheers to you for this.. because Priya was also my first ride.. My dad's first scoot and in which I learned riding when I was 15.. A mild green beauty which where with us for more than 17years.. My dad still recalls the memories of buying her and taking her home from the showroom 230 km's away that too after a booking period of 6 months

Everything with her is a lovely memory.. going to school, weekend trips etc.. but good things never last long.. my dad had to sell her for some reason.. but now I'm on a constant search to find her and retain her so that I could keep her as a token of my childhood memories.. Hopes God will help me in this.

Nice asset !! Marvel was very good scooter (don't know about 110cc), my brother used it for 89K kms and sold it off due to rip-off svc charges, the only -ve point was front headlight housing, used to crack off on bumpy rides and used to irritate the ride.....all said Marvel was excellent machine. And to me it's styling is far better than present scooters, I am sure similar styling will come up in future !!

yep,i have changed it 3 times.since the body parts are of fibre, the whole scooter vibrates which is very irritating.
