  • wats the benefits of a CV carburettor?

    Guys,
I am having an enticer...i heard that the fazer has a similar engine with some changes and a Cv carburettor which betters the throttle response n pick up? Is it a gud idea to change mine with that of the fazer?
One more thing, I know that porting helps a lot in 2 strokes? but does it help in 4 strokes?
Also, I want to go 4 disc brakes and alloy wheels 4 my bike...one shop quoted some 8000 for discs and 7500 for alloy wheels (Is there any difference between alloy wheels and mag wheels)...i feel its 2 costly .. anyone knows any shop in bangalore where it is cheaper than this??
Any other suggestions for mods on my bike are more than welcome..

alloy wheels are the same as mag wheels:
alloy = magnesium + aluminium + other metals alloy (incase of wheels)

        Technocrat,
One of the topics u suggested was very cryptic to a novice like me!
The 2nd one seem to say that the CV carb increases the mileage and decreases the pickup, which is not what I want. SO, i m very much confused.
        nimish,
thanks for clearing the confusion about alloy/mag wheels. should i go for black/ steel colored alloys for my golden enticer? And how many spokes ll look good on it?

hey mag wheels are lighter then alloy wheels.
          and they are more flexible.
          these are not same.

            Hi aadi
I know that the threads mentioned by me do not have the exact info u wanted & hence i didn't lock the topic I gave the threads so that people dont post stuff which is already discussed & give info which is relevant to ur query

Alloy is mixture of metals , so letrally , all wheels ( even steel ones with your regulat wire spokes ) are alloy wheels , but being more specific , alloy wheels are usually with a high aluminium content for lightness mainly , while mag-magnesium wheels have higher magnesium content for even lesser weight and more strength .

CV carbs differ from slide carbs ( as in RX , CBZ , Splendor etc ) in that the engine's air requirement vi piston movement causing low pressure and the relatively high atmospheric pressure govern the amount of air fuel ratio ingested .

Note that during regular services , mechs DO NOT actually open your CV carb liek they do with slide carbs as CV carbs are said to be hard to set/tune correctly .

The advantage of running a CV carb is that the metering of Air : fuel ratio is much more accurately maintained on and off throttle, due to which unwanted fuel consumption reduces, eg when you speed up fullthrottle and suddenly shut the throttle. But the main disadvantage of CV carbs is that they are almost impossible to tune and they rely on the engines intake vaccum for slide operation, this kinda reduces absolute presure of air when suckedinto the manifold through carb. and hence power is reduced in the lower rev range.

So if i get u right rohit, a cv carb will end up giving u better mileage and a better power delivery in the midrange and top ? Correct me if I am wrong.

**Btw where are u these days. Any plans for the mumbai-pune g2g ? I havent decided yet.

Hi Rohit, Dude I'm selling my bike, planning for something new. Please ask your friends if anyone is interested.

Cant say about top end or midrange power in CV but 1 thing for sure is that cv sucks at throttle response, cable operated slide carbs are much better in that regard.

Rohit , ( Rash ) , slide carbs are better in that they restric air flow less than CV carsb , hence even racers dithc CV carbs for slide carbs , and could be THE reason why CBZ ( seemingly to me ) betters the Pulsar150DTSI and Unicorn performancewise .

To get same airflow as sldie carbs ,u need bigger CV carbs ( CBZ has 22mm slide carb , PUlsar150 and Fiero use 26mm venturi CVs , Unicorn uses 24mm which restrics air flwo but could help fuel efficiency at the cost of top end , but improving low end torque .
