    General Biking Discussion Approved.

I hope we do not discuss drag races on public roads, in this topic. Let us keep the meaning of 'drag race' limited to the track or may be even roads totally closed for public use.

@Manish: Please do not post in all CAPS henceforth. It is considered as "shouting".

i guess 4500 to 5500 rpm would be enough for a novice but it totally depends on the setup of the bike

I think the ideal rpm for launching the bike is at the rpm where the max power of the bike comes in (Like 8500 for a 150-220cc bike) as i have seen in many drag race videos in you tube.

                Drag Race!!!

                hey fellow riders....
in every riders life there are times when we are asked to put it all on line and indulge in an adrenaline powered activity that is drag race...
whether its to prove ride's prowess or the riders genius....
so here i am asking about your experiences of such events and also looking for you suggestions and tips as to improve oneself...
for instance i'm confused about the best way to kick start the race...
do we start from 0 throttle or 50% so as to juice out max power..
also are the gears shifts to be done after maxxing out on revvs or just after reaching redline??
Men who still dream of being a pilot or an astronaut are yet to ride a motorcycle.

I think it should be a 1000 revs more than the peak power rpm.
I think this has to do with the face that youe rpm will drop when you let out the clutch and if you let it out when ur at peak power rpm, the revs will drop below the peak range whereas if you launch with higher revs, the rpms may fall till the peak power rpms and thus providing us with a better launch.

This is just my idea and it maybe wrong too.
                    cheers
