I have a genuine feeling you are not using genuine parts for replacement, or the mech who is working on your bike is definitely is big time novice.
However hard the traffic is, your clutch plates and other parts should not get damaged so frequently (this after you ve got your hands clear on your bike; i mean experience in miles). And cables snapping, the fake aftermarket cables are prone to easier damage so pls check if the parts are genuine.
Try to find a trusted bullet mechanic in your place (somebody with some years behind him) and get your bike checked completely.

For the record, my maintenance costs with Std 350 is ~1500 per service, which is around once in 3 months. My RX135 4s used to cost half that amount; never noticed because it was next to nothing.
          I always use genuine parts,
From my past two TBs i found that once this bike gets upset there is no one who can fix it,
For my lovely Ocean Blue TB i tried many mechanics but non of them was able to fix it
          List of mech
          1 Sharama Faridabad
          2 Satnam Faridabad
          3 RE agency Karnal
          4 RE agency Gurgaon
          5 RE agency Ambala
          4 Puram Karnal
          5 Lal Karnal

And maintainence is high because i use only genuine parts and TB parts are much expensive then electra or std350

But finally i found one mechanic KAKA Delhi who is able to fix my problems.

There are many other problems associated with this machine
TB with self is low revving
          TB without is high revving
I owned both of these thats why i can make out the difference.
Chain gets tighten up to hell when pillion is sitting, and loose like any thing when you are riding single, this is the reason why chain set give up so early.
Head valve spring tension is very high thats why Tappet give up so early.
Leakage problem Big time problem with all REs

            YOUR BIKE MONTHLY MAINTENANCE COST

            Hi guys,
            i have ROYAL ENFIELD THUNDERBIRD.
Its a very amazing bike the only thing bad about it is her maintenance cost which is actually unbearable.
Maintenance cost comes around Rs 2000/- per month some times even more

At every 10k km i have to replace chain set, clutch plates and tappet set.

3 lt engine oil at every service even some SBK don't require this much engine oil(i think).

i have to change clutch chain even at every 12k km.
This one is my third thunderbird i sold my previous one because after 33k km their was a play in crank( very very expensive)

Clutch and front break cables are not reliable at all they dont last long, i even changed meter gauge of wheel at 13k km and meter wire also. Rear Break leathers does only 1500 to 2000 km.

every year i have to change the tappet set wich cost around 4500/-
each survice cost me more than 1200/-

I want to know how much other bikes maintenance cost around.
Please pen down your experience of maintenance of your bike, please include all the expense which comes under maintenance.
i agree with the 3 ltr oil requirement, but everything else generally lasts longer mate.

            RE thunderbird 2003 model -

Tappets/cam/rocker - never changed still running stock, running strong with minimal wear and noise

            clutch chain - changed once

chain and sprocket set - changed twice ( first at 28k! and second after 22k )

Clutch cable - initially had issues, would break every 2-3k kms, but after re-routing it from behind the toolbox, cant remember the last time it broke, but when it starts squeaking, time to replace it, or lubricate it.

Clutch plates should last you 15,000 kms easily.

I get some of my spares and service from satnam in faridabad, and his mechs do a good job, only you need time to sit on their heads.

There has to be some other flaw, or you have a really bad luck with Tbirds, but generally other than the tappet issues, so many problems have not been faced...

              Depends,
I ride at around 80km/h which comes around 3k rpm
              and blasting occasionally
and on highway around 100km/h which comes around 4k rpm

Well, my Pulsar 200 is hardly 5 months old, have only done 2 of the five free services till now.

The only maintainence I do as of now is chain cleaning and lubrication, for which I spent about 900 bucks, and nitrogen in the tyres, which was 50 bucks when I filled up 3 months back! :-)

Oh, and I switched to Motul 300v, which cost me 1700 for 2 cans.

                      Bike - honda unicorn dazzler
                      Kms done - 21K & 16 months old.
All 4 free servicing done at honda svc, was only charged for engine oil during each service.
After this normal serving like cleaning & lubing chain, cleaning/replacing spark plug, replacing air filter(viscous type, so no cleaning), draining carburetor, changing engine oil, all this is done by me, so no labor cost
                      Parts replaced so far-
                      spark plug - Rs 110/-
                      air filter - Rs 150/-
Apart from this I change engine oil at every 2K kms which costs approx. Rs 300/-
The only major maintenance cost I had to bear was that of replacing cone-set & fork alignment (total Rs850/-)
So, we can say that so far this bike has been very light on maintenance cost.

So total cost in 16 months(including all engine oil changes at every 2K ie 10 oil change) = 850+110+150+(300*10) = Rs 4110/-
So per month cost = Rs 257/- only

Thunderbird 350 (Purchased Sept 2010) regular commute to office in Kolkata heavy stop and go traffic. Now after over 2 years at 13500KMs ODO no parts are still required to be changed.

Servicing done regularly 6-8 months or 3000KMs whichever comes first.
Service charges 250/- from a local mechanic
Engine oil changed with every service - Motul 3000 15w50 3L @800/- (TBTS needs 2.75L so extra .25L comes handy for regular lubrication done myself monthly)
Oil filter @78/- changed with every service.
Air filter @140 changed every 2nd service
